ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(4)H(6)N(3) (+)·C(6)HCl(2)O(4) (-)·H(2)O, anions, cations and water mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds into one-dimensional tapes along [111]. These tapes are further linked by weak Cl?Cl inter-actions [Cl?Cl = 3.394?(2)?Å], forming sheets parallel to the (10) plane.

Project description:In the title compound, C(4)H(6)N(3) (+)·H(2)O(4)P(-)·H(2)O, the pyrimidin-ium ring is essentially planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0016 Å. In the structure, pairs of symmetry-related anions are connected into centrosymmetric clusters via strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming six-membered rings with an R(2) (2)(6) motif. These clusters are inter-connected via water mol-ecules through OW-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, building an infinite layer parallel to the ab plane. Moreover, infinite chains of 2-amino-pyrimidinium cations spread along the a-axis direction. These chains are connected to the inorganic layer through N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, which, together with electrostatic and van der Waals inter-actions, contribute to the cohesion and stability of the network in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(4)H(5)N(2) (+)·C(6)HCl(2)O(4) (-), there are three crystallographically independent 1,2-diazinium cations and hydrogen chloranilate anions. The anions are held together by pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds to form two types of dimers, one of which is centrosymmetric. The 1,2-diazinium cations are linked on both sides of each dimer via bifurcated N-H?O hydrogen bonds to give two kinds of 2-2 cation-anion associations. Project description:The crystal structures of two solid phases of the title compound, C(4)H(5)N(2)(+) x C(6)HCl(2)O(4)(-) x H(2)O, have been determined at 225 and 120 K. In the high-temperature phase, stable above 198 K, the transition temperature of which has been determined by (35)Cl nuclear quadrupole resonance and differential thermal analysis measurements, the three components are held together by O-H...O, N...H...O, C-H...O and C-H...Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a centrosymmetric 2+2+2 aggregate. In the N...H...O hydrogen bond formed between the pyrimidin-1-ium cation and the water molecule, the H atom is disordered over two positions, resulting in two states, viz. pyrimidin-1-ium-water and pyrimidine-oxonium. In the low-temperature phase, the title compound crystallizes in the same monoclinic space group and has a similar molecular packing, but the 2+2+2 aggregate loses the centrosymmetry, resulting in a doubling of the unit cell and two crystallographically independent molecules for each component in the asymmetric unit. The H atom in one N...H...O hydrogen bond between the pyrimidin-1-ium cation and the water molecule is disordered, while the H atom in the other hydrogen bond is found to be ordered at the N-atom site with a long N-H distance [1.10 (3) A].
