Catena-Poly[[(2,2'-bipyridine-κN,N')copper(I)]-μ-cyanido-κC:N-[(2,2'-bipyridine-κN,N')copper(I)]-μ-thio-cyanato-κS:N].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(2)(CN)(SCN)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), contains two crystallographically independent Cu(I) atoms, each in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. Each Cu atom is coordinated by a bidentate chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. A bridging cyanide anion links the two Cu(2,2'-bipyridine) units to form a binuclear unit. Adjacent binuclear units are connected by a thio-cyanate anion into a one-dimensional helical chain along [010]. The cyanide anion is disordered, with each site occupied by both C and N atoms in an occupancy ratio of 0.61 (5):0.39 (5). The S atom of the thio-cyanate anion is also disordered over two sites, with occupancy factors of 0.61 (3) and 0.39 (3). There are π-π inter-actions between the pyridyl rings of neighbouring chains [centroid-centroid distance = 3.82 (1) Å].

This dinuclear entity is linked to another Cu(I) atom that lies on a twofold rotation axis by another cyanide bridge, these bridges giving rise to the formation of a linear chain motif.

Project description:The title compound, [CuPd(CN)(4)(C(4)H(12)N(2))(2)](n), consists of one-dimensional chains. The Cu and Pd atoms are both located on centers of symmetry in an alternating array of [Cu(N-Eten)(2)](2+) (N-Eten = N-ethyl-ethylenediamine) and [Pd(CN)(4)](2-) units. The Pd-C distances of 1.991 (3) and 1.992 (3) Å are inter-mediate values compared with the analogous Ni(II) and Pt(II) complexes [Akitsu & Einaga (2007 ▶). Inorg. Chim. Acta, 360, 497-505]. Due to Jahn-Teller effects, the axial Cu-N bond distance of 2.548 (2) Å is noticeably longer than the equatorial distances [Cu-NH(2) = 2.007 (2) and Cu-NHC(2)H(5) = 2.050 (2) Å]. There are interchain hybrogen bonds, with N(-H)⋯N = 3.099(4) Å.

Project description:The title compound, {[NdPt(CN)(4)(NO(3))(C(15)H(11)N(3))(H(2)O)(2)]·CH(3)CN·0.5C(15)H(11)N(3)}(n), was isolated from solution as a one-dimensional coordination polymer. The Nd(3+) site in the structure has a ninefold coordination with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, while the Pt(II) ion is coordinated by four cyanide groups in an almost regular square-planar geometry. Cis-bridging by the tetracyanidoplatinate anions links the Nd(3+) cations, forming the one-dimensional chains. Additionally, each Nd(3+) contains coordin-ation by two water mol-ecules, one tridentate 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine mol-ecule, and one bidentate nitrate anion. 2,2':6',2''-Terpyridine and acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules are incorporated between the chains, the former form π-stacking inter-actions (average inter-planar distance 3.33 Å) with terpyridine mol-ecules located in the chains. Relatively long Pt⋯Pt inter-actions [3.847 (1) Å] are observed in the structure. O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding interactions between the consituents consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), contains a bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)(isothio-cyanato)copper(II) cation and a perchlorate anion. In the cation, the Cu(2+) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecules and an N atom from an isothio-cyanate anion, resulting in a distorted CuN(5) pyramidal configuration. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, and weak π-π inter-actions between 2,2'-bipyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908 (4) Å]. The perchlorate counteranion is disordered over two positions in a 0.66:0.34 ratio.

Project description:The title complex, {[Fe(II)Y(III)(CN)(4)(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(CH(3)OH)(3)]·CH(3)OH·0.5H(2)O}(n), is built up of ladder-like chains oriented along the c axis. Each ladder consists of two strands based on alternating Fe(II) and Y(III) ions connected by cyanide bridges. Two such parallel chains are connected by additional cyanide anions (the 'rungs' of the ladder), which likewise connect Fe(II) and Y(III) ions, such that each [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](2-) (bipy is 2,2'-bipyridine) unit coordinates with three Y(III) ions and each Y(III) ion connects with three different [Fe(bipy)(CN)(4)](2-) units. The Fe(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry and the Y(III) atom cation is eight-coordinated in a distorted dodeca-hedral environment. The uncoordinated methanol solvent mol-ecules are involved in hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with the one terminal cyanide group and a coordinated methanol mol-ecule from another [Y(III)(NO(3))(CH(3)OH)(3)](2+) unit. Adjacent ladder-like chains are also held together by hydrogen bonds between the terminal cyanide ligands of the [Fe(CN)(4)(bipy)](2-) units in one chain and the OH donors of CH(3)OH ligands from [Y(III)(NO(3))(CH(3)OH)(3)] units in neighboring chains. The water molecule exhibits half-occupation.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the Cu(I) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands and one N and one S atom from two symmetry-related thio-cyanate ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral environment. The thio-cyanate ligands bridge the Cu(I) atoms into a zigzag [CuSCN](n) chain running parallel to the a axis. These chains are further connected through two bipy ligands that bridge the Cu(I) centers to generate a two-dimensional brick-like network. The pyridyl planes of the ligands exhibit a dihedral angle of 37.35 (12)°.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd(NCS)(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)](n), consists of two crystallographically independent Cd(II) cations, four thio-cyanato anions and four pyridine ligands. The Cd(II) atoms are each coordinated by four N atoms from two pyridine ligands and two thio-cyanato anions, each in a mutually cis orientation, and by two S atoms from two adjacent thio-cyanato anions within a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cd(II) atoms are μ-1,3-bridged via the thio-cyanato anions into polymeric chains parallel to [001]. The Cd(II)⋯Cd(II) intra-chain separations range between 5.9688 (6) and 6.0195 (6) Å, whereas the shortest Cd(II)⋯Cd(II) inter-chain separations are 7.8272 (7) and 8.6312 (6) Å.

Project description:The central CuN(4)O(2) motif of the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(8)H(6)N(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), exhibits a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal centre, showing a considerably long Cu-O bond distance of 2.634 (4) Å towards the second perchlorate group occupying the sixth coordination site, giving a (4+1+1)-type coordination mode. The 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands are highly twisted with respect to each other, the dihedral angle between the two pyridyl ring planes being 38.9 (2)°. The bipy ligands act as bridging ligands between [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(2,2'-bpym)] (2,2'-bpym is 2,2'-bipyrimidine) units, generating an infinite one-dimensional zigzag chain along [010]. Intra- and intermolecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers related by a non-crystallographic inversion center. Within the polymers, the Cu(II )atoms, coordinated by the water mol-ecule and the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligands, are bridged by 5-nitro-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianions which act as tridentate ligands; the carboxyl-ate groups exhibit monodentate and symmetric bidentate coordination modes. The Cu(II) atoms show a strongly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal structure, the two symmetry-independent coordination polymers form another one-dimensional polymeric structure via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between coordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups.
