ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Mn(C(5)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(16)N(3)O(2))], the manganese(II) cation (site symmetry ) is hexa-coordinated by four O and two N atoms in a distorted trans-MnN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. The four O atoms belonging to two 2,4-penta-nedionate anions lie in the equatorial plane and the two N atoms occupy the axial coordination sites.

The asymmetric unit comprises one-half of the mol-ecule and the Mn(II) ion is located on an inversion centre. The coordination geometry around the Mn(II) ion is slightly distorted octa-hedral, comprised of four O and two N atoms, in which the four O atoms in the equatorial plane come from two pentane-2,4-dionate ligands and the two N atoms in the axial coordination sites from 4,4,5,5-tetra-methyl-2-(4-pyrid-yl)imidazoline-1-oxyl 3-oxide.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(16)N(3)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], was obtained from a conventional solvent evaporation method. The complex mol-ecule is centrosymmetric, so pairs of equivalent ligands lie trans to each other in a slightly distorted octa-hedral CoN(2)O(4) geometry. The Co(II) ion is coordinated by the pyridine N atoms from NITpPy ligands [NITpPy is 4,4,5,5-tetra-methyl-2-(pyridin-4-yl)imidazoline-1-oxyl 3-oxide), water O atoms and two monodentate benzoate O atoms. The complex mol-ecules are connected by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between water mol-ecules and benzoate ligands, forming chains parallel to [100]. π-π stacking inter-actions between the benzoate ligands with centroid-centroid distances of 3.752 (2) Å connect the chains into layers parallel to (10-1).
