Tetra-aqua-bis(5-hydroxy-nicotinato-?N)cadmium(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cd(C(6)H(4)NO(3))(2)(H(2)O)(4)], was obtained by the reaction of cadmium chloride with 5-hydroxy-nicotinic acid. The Cd(II) atom is located on an inversion centre and is coordinated by two N atoms from two 5-hydroxy-nicotinic acid ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The structure is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The dinuclear mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cd(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, lies on an inversion centre and forms 12-membered (CdNC(3)O)(2) metallacycles with the two Cd(2+) ions bridged by two nicotinate ligands. Both Cd(2+) ions display coordination polyhedra with a distorted octa-hedral geometry that includes two pyridine N atoms from bridging and terminal nicotinate anions, two amine N atoms from chelating ethylene-diamine ligands, carboxylate O atoms from bridging nicotinate anions and water O atoms. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a three-dimensional network, and π-π stacking inter-actions are observed between symmetry-related pyridine rings of bridging as well as terminal nicotinate anions (the centroid-centroid distances are 3.59 and 3.69 Å, respectively, and the distances between parallel planes of the stacked pyridine rings are 3.53 and 3.43 Å, respectively). The two methylene groups of the ethylene-diamine ligand are disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.8 and 0.2.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cd(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(10)H(8)O(6)S(2)), the Cd(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. An octa-hedral coordination geometry is defined by four water mol-ecules in one plane, and two trans N-atom donors of the nicotinamide ligands. The biphenyl-4,4'-disulfonate anion also lies on a crystallographic inversion centre. In the crystal structure, the complex cations are connected to the counter-anions via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title dinuclear ionic complex, [Cd(2)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(H(2)O)(8)][Cd(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(8)(C(4)H(4)N(2))], the cation and anion are disordered equally over a site with symmetry mmm. The Cd(II) ions and the N atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on the inter-section of two crystallographic mirror planes. The C atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on one of these mirror planes, and the acetate groups and water mol-ecules lie across the inter-secting mirror planes. Each Cd(II) atom in the cation is five-coordinated by four O atoms from four water mol-ecules and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand, whereas each Cd(II) in the anion is nine-coordinated by four pairs of O atoms from the bidentate acetate ligands and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand. In the crystal structure, each anion is surrounded by eight nearest-neighbour cations and vice versa. The crystal structure is stabilized by ionic inter-actions as well as by C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](NO(3))(2), the Ni(II) ion is coordinated by two N-bonded pyridine ligands and four water mol-ecules in an octa-hedral coordination mode. The asymmetric unit consists of one Ni(II) ion located on an inversion center, as well as one pyridine ligand, one nitrate anion and two water mol-ecules in general positions. In the crystal structure, the discrete complex cations and nitrate anions are connected by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The face-to-face separation of 3.561 (5) Å between parallel pyridine rings indicates the existence of weak π-π stacking between the pyridine rings. The structure also contains inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(4)FO(2))(2), contains one-half of the complex cation with the Ni(II) atom located on an inversion center, and a 2-fluoro-benzoate (FB) counter-anion. The four O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Ni atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement with an average Ni-O bond length of 2.079 Å, and the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination is completed by the two N atoms of the nicotinamide (NA) ligands in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl group and the attached benzene ring is 28.28 (11)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 8.31 (4)°. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O, and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π Contacts between the pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.626 (1) Å] may further stabilize the crystal structure. The 2-fluoro-benzoate anion is disordered over two orientations, with an occupancy ratio of 0.85:0.15.

Project description:The title polymeric compound, {[Cd(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(5))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O}(n) or {[Cd(2)(hypydc)(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O}(n) (where hypydcH(2) is 4-hydroxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by the reaction of cadmium(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with 4-hydroxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and propane-1,3-diamine, in a 1:2:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution. The compound is a seven-coordinate binuclear polymeric complex with distorted penta-gonal bipyramidal geometry around Cd(II) [Cd-O = 2.247?(4)-2.474?(3)?Å]. In the binuclear monomeric units, the central atoms join together by O atoms of two bridging tridentate (hypydc)(2-) ligands, and the polymer propagates via two bridging water mol-ecules that link each Cd(II )centre of one monomer to the adjacent neighbour. Propane-1,3-diamine (pn) does not appear in the product but plays a role as a base. Inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, and ?-? stacking inter-actions, with distances of 3.725?(3) and 3.766?(3)?Å, connect the various components.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, [Mn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)][Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)O(7)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, consists of mononuclear manganese(II) cations, dinuclear manganate(II) dianions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The dianion is located about an inversion center; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, a sulfonatoisophthalate group, a water mol-ecule along with two bridging water mol-ecules in an octa-hedral geometry. The cation lies on a twofold rotation axis; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four water mol-ecules and a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A partially overlapped arrangement between the bipyridine ligands and the aromatic ring of the sulfoisophthalate group of adjacent anions is observed; the distance (3.357 Å) indicates π-π stacking. Hydrogen bonds, with the water mol-ecules serving as hydrogen-bond donors, lead to a three-dimensional network architecture.

The four O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Co(II) ion form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement with an average Co-O bond length of 2.086 Å; the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination is completed by the two N atoms of the isonicotinamide (INA) ligands at a slightly longer distance [2.1603 (14) Å] in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the attached benzene ring is 5.93 (13)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 3.09 (6)°. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π Contacts between the benzene and pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.758 (1) Å] may further stabilize the crystal structure.
