Tetra-aqua-bis-(pyridine-κN)nickel(II) dinitrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ni(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](NO(3))(2), the Ni(II) ion is coordinated by two N-bonded pyridine ligands and four water mol-ecules in an octa-hedral coordination mode. The asymmetric unit consists of one Ni(II) ion located on an inversion center, as well as one pyridine ligand, one nitrate anion and two water mol-ecules in general positions. In the crystal structure, the discrete complex cations and nitrate anions are connected by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The face-to-face separation of 3.561 (5) Å between parallel pyridine rings indicates the existence of weak π-π stacking between the pyridine rings. The structure also contains inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(11)H(6)N(2)O)(H(2)O)(4)](NO(3))(2), was prepared by the reaction of Ni(NO(3))(2) and 4,5-diaza-fluoren-9-one (dafo). The crystal packing consists of a three-dimensional network via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordin-ated water mol-ecules and the nitrate anions. The Ni atom lies on a special position (Wyckoff position 4e, site symmetry 2), as does the carbonyl O atom.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(4)FO(2))(2), contains one-half of the complex cation with the Ni(II) atom located on an inversion center, and a 2-fluoro-benzoate (FB) counter-anion. The four O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Ni atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement with an average Ni-O bond length of 2.079 Å, and the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination is completed by the two N atoms of the nicotinamide (NA) ligands in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl group and the attached benzene ring is 28.28 (11)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 8.31 (4)°. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, C-H⋯O, and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π Contacts between the pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.626 (1) Å] may further stabilize the crystal structure. The 2-fluoro-benzoate anion is disordered over two orientations, with an occupancy ratio of 0.85:0.15.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Ni(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(8)H(5)O(3))(2)·2H(2)O, contains one-half of the complex cation with the Ni(II) atom located on an inversion center, a 4-formyl-benzoate (FB) counter-anion and an uncoordinated water mol-ecule. The four O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Ni atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement and the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination is completed by the two N atoms of the isonicotinamide (INA) ligands at a sligthly longer distance in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the attached benzene ring is 8.14 (11)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 3.46 (6)°. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π Contacts between the benzene and pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.751 (1) Å] may further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title mononuclear complex, [Ni(C(8)H(7)O(2))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)(H(2)O)], the Ni(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral arrangement, coordinated by three carboxylate O atoms from one bidentate 4-methyl-benzoate ligand and one monodentate 4-methyl-benzoate ligand, two N atoms from pyridine ligands, axially positioned, and a water mol-ecule. The equatorially positioned water mol-ecule and uncoordinated carb-oxylate O atom form an intra-molecular hydrogen bond. An inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond between the coordinated water mol-ecule and carboxylate O atom of the 4-methyl-benzoate ligand forms infinite chains along the b axis. These chains are connected by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

In the anion, the carboxyl-ate group is twisted from the attached benzene ring by 8.8 (3)°. In the crystal, a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network, formed by classical O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, consolidates the crystal packing, which also exhibits π-π inter-actions between the benzene and pyridine rings, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.455 (2) and 3.621 (2) Å, respectively.

A 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule bridges two water-coordinated Cu atoms, each of which is connected to another 4,4'-bipyridine, giving rise to a square-pyramidal coordination geometry for the Cu(II) centers. The dinuclear dications, nitrate anions and uncoord-inated water mol-ecules are linked into a two-dimensional structure.

There are also four lattice water molecules present. The organic ligands are bound to the Ni(II) ion in a monodentate manner through a carboxyl-ate O atom. There is one strong intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond and six inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions in the packing, resulting in a complex three-dimensional network structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(6)H(3)FNO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom is octa-hedrally coordinated in a ZnO(4)N(2) environment by two 3-fluoro-pyridine-4-carboxyl-ate (3-fpy4-cbx) ligands and four water mol-ecules. The [Zn(3-fpy4-cbx)(2)(H(2)O)(4)] mol-ecules form a three-dimensional network through strong O-H⋯O and weak O-H⋯F hydrogen bonds between 3-fpy4-cbx and water mol-ecules. The crystal used for data collection was a twin, with the twin law corresponding to a 180° rotation about the real-space [001] axis. The major twin fraction refined to 0.795 (1).
