ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(6)H(5)IO(3)S·C(4)H(9)NO·H(2)O, N,N-dimethylacetamide and 4-iodobenzenesulfonic acidmolecules are linked by an intramolecular C-H?O hydrogen bond. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?I and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(12)H(14)N(4)·2C(6)H(7)NO(3)S·2H(2)O, contains one half of a centrosymmetric 1,4-bis-(4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)benzene (bib) molecule, one 4-amino-benzene-sulfonic acid molecule and one water mol-ecule. In the bib molecule, the imidazole ring adopts an envelope conformation. The benzene rings of bib and 4-aminobenzenesulfonic acid are oriented at a dihedral angle of 21.89 (4)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. Weak π-π contacts between the benzene and imidazole rings and between the benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.895 (1) and 3.833 (1) Å, respectively] may further stabilize the structure.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(13)H(11)NO(4)S, displays a trans configuration with respect to the imine C=N double bond. The central benzene ring directly linked to N and the hydroxyl group are disordered over two orientations [occupancies of 0.510 (16)/0.490 (16) and 0.528 (8)/0.472 (8), respectively]. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 23.3 (5)° for the major component and 18.3 (5)° for the minor component. Efficient synthesis of readily water-soluble sulfonic Acid carbamates.

Project description:A series of various readily water-soluble carbamates were synthesized with good yields. These compounds are useful chemical tracers for assessing the cooling progress in a georeservoir during geothermal power plant operation. Acylation of primary amines was carried out as well as using a solution of sodium bicarbonate and without the presence of salt. Products were characterized by 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. Purity was confirmed through elemental analysis.
