ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound (26DMPMA), C(11)H(15)NO, is closely related to the side-chain unsubstituted N-(2,6-dimethyl-phen-yl)acetamide and side-chain substituted N-(2,6-dimethyl-phen-yl)-2,2,2-trimethyl-acetamide and 2-chloro-N-(2,6-dimethyl-phen-yl)acetamide, with slightly different bond parameters. The mol-ecules in 26DMPMA are linked into chains through N-H?O hydrogen bonding.

In the crystal, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into C(4) chains propagating in [100]. Project description:The thienyl ring in the title compound, C(14)H(15)NOS, is disordered over two diagonally opposite positions, the major component having a site-occupancy factor of 0.569?(3). The mol-ecule is highly twisted with respect to the central amide group, which is reflected in the dihedral angle formed between the thienyl and benzene rings of 77.01?(15)° [70.34?(18)° for the minor component]. In the crystal, mol-ecules self-associate into chains along [100] via N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The chains are reinforced by complementary C-H?O contacts.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(16)H(17)NO, the N-H and C=O groups are in the anti-periplanar conformation that has been observed in related compounds. Furthermore, the conformation of the C=O group with respect to the methyl substituent in the 2-methyl-phenyl ring is syn, as has also been observed in related structures. The amide group makes dihedral angles of 50.3 (3) and 64.6 (3)° with the 2-methyl-phenyl and 2,6-dimethyl-phenyl rings, respectively, while the angle between the planes of the two rings is 14.26 (7)°. Project description:Two independent mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(18)N(2)O(3)S. Small but significant twists about the (S)N-C and S-C bonds differentiate the mol-ecules but the most obvious difference is found in the relative orientation of the meta-methyl groups, which lie on opposite sides of the mol-ecules. Overall, both mol-ecules adopt a U shape but with significant twisting evident, particularly in the second independent mol-ecule [dihedral angles between benzene rings = 63.90?(13) and 35.78?(11)°]. In the crystal, N-H?O hydrogen bonds lead to supra-molecular chains with a tubular topology propagating in [100] and C-H?O contacts cross-link the chains.
