ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(28)H(20)N(2)O(4), was synthesized by the reaction of 2-(hydrazonometh-yl)phenyl benzoate with iodine. The mol-ecule possesses a crystallographically imposed center of symmetry at the mid-point of the hydrazine N-N bond. The substituents at the ends of the C=N bonds adopt an E,E configuration. Inter-molecular C-H??(arene) hydrogen bonds and aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance 3.900?(1)?Å] link the mol-ecules into (100) sheets. In addition, there is an inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-action.

In the crystal structure, centrosymmetrically related mol-ecules form a dimer through C-H⋯π inter-molecular inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(28)H(22)N(4)O(4), the mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic twofold axis. The quinoline ring is essentially planar (give max or rms deviation 0.0186?Å), and the dihedral angle between the quinoline ring and the central benzene ring is 19.1?(4)°. Intra-molecular N-H?(N,O) and C-H?O hydrogen bonds contribute to the formation of the roughly planar configuration. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds, and weak ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings and central benzene rings of the neighboring mol-ecules [centroid-centroid separation = 3.9009?(6)?Å].

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, C(20)H(18)N(4)O(2), the N-H and C=O bonds are trans to each other and the amide O atoms are syn to the ortho amino N atom in the benzoyl rings. The amide groups form dihedral angles of 8.4 (2) and 13.8 (2)° with their respective benzoyl rings, and dihedral angles of 51.85 (16) and 51.19 (17)° with the phenyl-enediamine ring. In the crystal, a centrosymmetric dimer is formed by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in an R(2) (2)(14) descriptor on a unitary level of graph-set analysis, and three intramolecular N-H⋯O bonds also occur.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt C(8)H(22)N(4) (2+)·2C(7)H(5)O(2) (-), comprises two independent pairs of half a 2,2'-(piperazine-1,4-di-yl)diethanaminium dication plus a benzoate anion. The dications are symmetrical and lie across crystallographic centres of inversion. The crystal structure was refined as a two-component pseudo-merohedral twin using the twin law 001 0-10 100 [he domain fractions are 0.8645?(8) and 0.1355?(8)]. The anions and cations are linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak N-H?O inter-molecular inter-actions to form infinite two-dimensional networks parallel to [101]. The conformation adopted by the cation in the crystal structure is very similar to that adopted by the same cation in the structures of the 2-hy-droxy-benzoate [Cukrowski et al. (2012 ?). This conformation is stabilized by two intra-molecular O-H?N bonds, which generate S(6) ring motifs.
