ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(26)H(32)N(2), the cyclo-hexane and piperazine rings each adopt a chair conformation. Both phenyl rings and the two propen-3-yl residues are in equatorial positions. There are no C-H?N hydrogen bonds nor ?-? inter-actions between the aromatic rings. The absolute configuration was assigned with reference to the starting material.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(20)H(20)N(2), is chiral; the absolute configuration follows from the known chirality of the input reagents. In addition to van der Waals forces, C-H⋯π ring inter-actions are also present. The angle between the planes of the phenyl rings is 65.6 (1)°. The heterocyclic ring of the quinoxaline system has a twist-boat configuration, while the cyclohexane ring has a chair configuration.

Project description:The structure of the title racemic compound, C(20)H(20)N(2), shows close similarity to that of the enanti-omerically pure (4aR,8aR)-2,3-diphenyl-4a,5,6,7,8,8a-hexa-hydro-quinoxaline [Wang & Ye (2008 ?). Acta Cryst. E64, o359-o359]. The similarity applies to the unit-cell parameters as well as to the packing of the constituent mol-ecules. Similar packing is conditioned by a lack of directed inter-molecular inter-actions such as hydrogen bonds in either structure.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(20)N(2), the quinoxaline ring adopts a very distorted half-chair conformation [N=C-C=N = 22.7 (2)° for the nominally coplanar atoms] and the cyclo-hexane ring adopts a chair conformation. The quinoxaline and cyclo-hexane rings are cis-fused. The two phenyl rings form a dihedral angle of 63.88 (7)°.

Project description:The eudesmane-type terpenoid, C(20)H(30)O(5), isolated from Sclerorhachis platyrachis, has a deca-lin skeleton whose six-membered rings adopt chair conformations. The two methyl substituents occupy axial positions, whereas the other three substituents occupy equatorial positions. The hy-droxy group is an intra-molecular hydrogen-bond donor to the single-bond ester O atom; adjacent mol-ecules are linked through the carb-oxy-lic acid interacting with the hydroxyl group, forming a hydrogen-bonded chain running along the c axis.

Project description:The pyran-opyran amide (2S,4aR,8aR)-6-oxo-2,4a,6,8a-tetra-hydro-pyrano[3,2-b]pyran-2-carboxamide, C9H9NO4, 3, was prepared by a chemoselective hydration of the corresponding nitrile, 2, using a heterogeneous catalytic method based on copper(II) supported on mol-ecular sieves, in the presence of acetaldoxime. Compound 3 belongs to a new class of pyran-opyrans that possess anti-bacterial and phytotoxic activity. Crystallographic analysis of 3 shows a bent structure for the cis-fused bicyclic pyran-opyran, similar to nitrile 2. Evidence of an intra-molecular hydrogen bond involving the amide group and ring oxygen was not observed; however, two separate inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions were observed between the amide hydrogen atoms and adjacent carbonyl oxygen atoms along the b- and a-axis directions. The latter inter-action may also be supported by an inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond. The lattice is filled out by close-packed layers of this hydrogen-bonded network along the c-axis direction, related from one to the next by a 21 screw axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(10)H(11)NO(3), crystallizes with four independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. Their geometries are very similar and corresponding bond distances are almost identical. The central six-membered ring of the indolizine moiety adopts a envelope conformation [the displacement of the flap atom (the C atom opposite the N atom) being 0.539?(2), 0.548?(3), 0.509?(3) and 0.544?(3)?Å in the four molecules], while the conformation of the oxopyrrolidine ring is close to that of a flat envelope. The displacements of the non-fused C atom opposite the C=O group of the pyrrolidine ring of the four mol-ecules are 0.366?(3), 0.335?(3), 0.173?(3) and -0.310?(3)?Å. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains, which run parallel to the c axis. The absolute configuration was assigned from the synthesis.

Project description:A practical route for the stereoselective synthesis of (2S,3S)-5,5,5-trifluoroisoleucine (L-5-F3Ile) and (2R,3S)-5,5,5-trifluoro-allo-isoleucine (D-5-F3-allo-Ile) was developed. The hydrophobicity of L-5-F3Ile was examined and it was incorporated into a model peptide via solid phase peptide synthesis to determine its ?-helix propensity. The ?-helix propensity of 5-F3Ile is significantly lower than Ile, but surprisingly high when compared with 4'-F3Ile.
