Project description:In the crystal of the title compound, C(9)H(7)FO(4), classical carboxylate inversion dimers are linked by pairs of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The packing is consolidated by C-H⋯F and C-H⋯O interactions. The benzene ring and the methoxycarbonyl group are nearly coplanar, with a dihedral angle of 1.5 (3)° between them, whereas the carboxyl group has a dihedral angle of 20.2 (4)° with respect to the benzene ring.

Project description:The title compounds, both C8H4F3NO4, represent two isomers of nitro tri-fluoro-methyl benzoic acid. The compounds each contain a nitro functionality para to the carb-oxy-lic acid group, with the tri-fluoro-methyl substituent ortho to the acid group in the 2-isomer and ortho to the nitro group in the 3-isomer. The regiochemistry with respect to the tri-fluoro-methyl group results in steric inter-actions that rotate the carb-oxy-lic acid group or the nitro group out of the aromatic plane in the 2- and 3-isomer, respectively. Each mol-ecule engages in inter-molecular hydrogen bonding, forming head-to-tail dimers with graph-set notation R 2 2(8) and donor-acceptor hydrogen-bonding distances of 2.7042 (14) Å in the 2-isomer and 2.6337 (16) in the 3-isomer. Recrystallization attempts did not yield untwinned crystals.

Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(5)F(6)NO(3), was synthesized by condensation of tetra-fluoro-phthalic anhydride and 2,4-difluoro-aniline. It was then recrystallized from hexane to give a nonmerohedral twin with two crystallographically unique mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The refined twin fraction is 0.460?(3). Torsional differences between the aryl rings and the central amide group account for the presence of two unique mol-ecules. The compound packs as double tapes formed by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between each unique mol-ecule and its symmetry equivalents.

The thiophene and perfluorophenyl groups form a dihedral angle of 5.4 (2)°. The structure is characterized by a head-to-tail organization in a columnar arrangement due to π-π inter-actions between the thio-phene and penta-fluoro-phenyl rings with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.698 (2)-3.802 (2) Å.
