ABSTRACT: The racemic title compound, C(15)H(16)N(4)O(2)·H(2)O, crystallizes as a hydrogen-bonded layer structure incorporating the solvent water mol-ecules. Within the layers, there are three distinct hydrogen-bonding motifs which can be classified as R(2) (2)(8), R(4) (2)(8) and R(4) (4)(12).

Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(21)NO(3), was obtained via a double Mannich condensation reaction of 6-methyl-tetra-hydro-isobenzofuran-1,7(3H,7aH)-dione with formaldehyde and benzyl-amine. The mol-ecule contains three fused rings of which the cyclo-hexa-none and piperidine rings adopt chair conformations and the furan-one ring assumes an envelope conformation. An inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-action is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(14)H(14)O(4), lies on a twofold rotation axis that bis-ects the central benzene ring, with only one half-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The pyran-one systems adopt distorted twist- boat conformations, with the two methyl-ene C atoms displaced by 0.537?(1) and 0.163?(2)?Å from the best-fit plane through the remaining five C and O atoms (r.m.s. deviation = 0.073?Å). In the crystal, bifurcated C-H?(O,O) hydrogen bonds link pairs of adjacent mol-ecules in an obverse fashion, stacking mol-ecules along c. These contacts are further stabilized by very weak ?-? inter-actions between adjacent benzene rings with centroid-centroid distances of 4.1951?(4)?Å. Additional C-H?O contacts link these stacks, giving a three-dimensional network.

Project description:Four independent mol-ecules (A-D) comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C15H26O2, which differ only in the relative orientations of the terminal -C(Me)2OH groups [e.g. the range of Cmethyl-ene-Cmethine-Cquaternary-Ohy-droxy torsion angles is 52.7?(7)-57.1?(6)°, where the Cmethyl-ene atom is bound to an epoxide C atom]. The five-membered rings adopt envelope conformations, with the methyl-ene C atom adjacent to the methine C atom being the flap atom in each case. In each mol-ecule, the conformation of the seven-membered ring is a half-chair, with the Cmethyl-ene-Cmethine bond, flanked by methyl-ene C atoms, being the back of the chair. Supra-molecular helical chains along the b axis are found in the crystal packing, sustained by hy-droxy-epoxide O-H?O hydrogen bonding. Mol-ecules of A self-associate into a chain as do those of D. A third independent chain comprising B and C mol-ecules is also formed. The studied crystal is a pseudo-merohedral twin (minor component ca 21%).

Project description:The racemic title compound, C(27)H(26)N(2)O(4), crystallizes with its central carbon bridge on a twofold axis. It forms parallel chains of mol-ecules utilizing aryl offset face-face inter-actions with an interplanar distance of about 3.5?Å. These chains associate further by means of pairs of O-CH(2)-H?? (with H-ring distances ranging from 2.69 to 2.95?Å) and O-CH(2)-H?N motifs. The meth-oxy groups in this structure are coplanar with the aromatic rings to which they are attached. This is recognized as being common behaviour amongst aromatic meth-oxy compounds.

Project description:In the title compound, C19H15Cl6NO4 [+solvent], the six-membered ring of the norbornene moiety adopts a boat conformation and the two five-membered rings have envelope conformations. The pyrrolidine ring makes a dihedral angle of 14.83?(12)° with the 3,4-di-meth-oxy-phenyl ring, which are attached to each other by an extended N-CH2-CH2-Car bridge. In the crystal, the structure features C-H?O inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, an offset ?-? inter-action [inter-centroid distance = 3.564?(1)?Å] and a C-Cl?? inter-action. The contribution of some disordered solvent to the scattering was removed using the SQUEEZE routine [Spek (2015 ?). Acta Cryst. C71, 9-18] of PLATON. The solvent contribution was not included in the reported mol-ecular weight and density.
