ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(10)H(10)N(2)O(2), all non-H atoms are approximately co-planar with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.016?Å. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into inversion dimers by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds. Chains along [010] are buiilt up by ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.602?(1)?Å] between the benzene and piperazine rings of adjacent mol-ecules.

The mean planes of quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-dione fragment and P form a dihedral angle of 59.08?(4)°. In the crystal, pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into inversion dimers, and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions between the benzene rings of the quinazoline ring systems [centroid-centroid distance = 3.538?(3)?Å] further consolidate the packing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(14)N(2)O(2), comprises two independent mol-ecules, which slightly differ in the orientation of the propargyl chain. In both molecules, the diazepine ring adopts a boat conformation with the propargyl-bearing C atom as the prow and the C atoms at the ring junction as the stern. The carbonyl O atom of one independent mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to the acetyl-enic H atom of the other independent mol-ecule. In the crystal, symmetry-related mol-ecules are linked together by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a ribbon-like structure along the c axis.

Project description:Uracil, the pyrimidine nucleobase, which combined with adenine forms one of the major motifs present in the biopolymer RNA, is also involved in the self-assembly of RNA. In the title compound, C(9)H(14)N(4)O(2)·2H(2)O, the asymmetric unit contains one dimethyl-amino-uracil group and two water mol-ecules. The plane of the N=C-NMe(2) side chain is inclined at 27.6?(5)° to the plane of the uracil ring. Both water mol-ecules form O-H?O hydrogen bonds with the carbonyl O atoms of the uracil group. Additional water-water hydrogen-bond inter-actions are also observed in the crystal structure. The O-H?O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network cage consisting of two dimethyl-amino-uracil groups and six water mol-ecules.

In the crystal, mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers through R 2 (2)(8) hydrogen-bonded rings involving the amine and one carbonyl group of the quinazolinedione moiety. These dimers are extended into chains extending along the a-axis direction through expanded centrosymmetric cyclic C-H?O associations involving the second carbonyl group, giving R 2 (2)(20) and R 1 (2)(7) motifs.

Intra- and inter-molecular N-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal structure, as are intra- and inter-molecular C-H?O contacts which, in total, connect the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. The shortest ring-centroid-to-ring-centroid distance of 3.5831?(14)?Å is between the two different types of six-membered rings.
