ABSTRACT: The Cu atom in the title compound, [Cu(C(13)H(9)BrClN(2)O(3)S)(2)], is chelated by two deprotonated Schiff base ligands in a square-planar coordination geometry; the Cu atom lies on a center of inversion. The -NH- group of one anion forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the phenolate atom of the symmetry-related ion.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(12)H(7)BrClN(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) center is tetra-coordinated by two phenolate O and two azomethine N atoms from two independent bidentate 4-bromo-2-[(2-chloro-3-pyrid-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolate (L) ligands. In the crystal structure, the Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-planar coordination environment. The inter-planar dihedral angles between the benzene and pyridine rings in the individual ligands are 63.83 (4) and 54.43 (3)°, indicating the pyridine ring to have considerably weaker steric hindrance.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(13)H(7)BrCl(2)NO)(2)], or CuL(2) {where HL= 2-[(E)-(2-chloro-phenyl-imino)-meth-yl]-6-bromo-4-chloro-phenol}, the Cu(II) atom is located on an inversion center and has a square-planar coordination. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are linked via Cu⋯Cl inter-actions [2.9933 (11) Å], forming a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane. They are also Cl⋯Cl inter-actions [3.3709 (14) Å] present, which consolidate the two-dimensional network structure.
