ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(C(10)H(11)N(2)O(2))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)], the Zn(II) atom lies on an inversion centre, and is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two carbonyl O atoms and two imino N atoms from two anionic bidentate acetone (2-hydroxy-benzo-yl)hydrazone ligands and by two N atoms from two pyridine mol-ecules. The hydroxyl group acts as a donor, forming an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond.

Project description:The central part of the title centrosymmetric dinuclear complex, [Zn(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(4)(C(9)H(12)N(2))(2)], has a paddle-wheel conformation with four benzoate ligands bridging two symmetry-related Zn(II) ions. The distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment around the Zn(II) ion is completed by an N atom from a 4-(pyrrolidin-1-yl)pyridine ligand. The Zn?Zn separation of 2.9826?(12)?Å does not represent a formal direct metal-metal bond. The Zn(II) ion is displaced by 0.381?(1)?Å from the mean plane of the four basal O atoms. Two of the C atoms of the pyrrolidine ring are disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.53?(2) and 0.47?(2).

The Cd(II) atom is located on the twofold rotation axis and reveals a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination defined by four atoms (N(2)O(2)) from two symmetry-related chelate ligands and two pyridine N atoms. Intra-molecular O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the mol-ecular conformation while inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding links mol-ecules into a triad, generating a helix along the threefold screw axis.

Project description:The title complex, [Zn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(9)H(7)O(3))(2), was obtained by the hydro-thermal reaction of zinc sulfate with mixed 4-hydroxy-lcinnamic acid (H(2)L) and 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) ligands. The complex consists of a centrosymmetric [Zn(4,4'-bipy)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](2+) cation with the metal centre in a distorted ZnN(2)O(4) coordination, and of two HL(-) anions. Project description:The Zn(II) ion in the title compound, [Zn(C(15)H(14)N(10))(H(2)O)(2)](ClO(4))(2), lies on a centre of symmetry. The distorted N(4)O(2) octa-hedral coordination environment around the Zn atom is composed of two 1,3-bis-[5-(2-pyrid-yl)-2H-tetra-zol-2-yl]propane ligands (L1) and two water mol-ecules, coordinated in trans positions. The ligand acts as a typical bidentate chelating ligand through one of its 2-pyridyl-2H-tetra-zole units, forming a five-membered Zn-N-C-C-N metallacycle with a small N-Zn-N bite angle [77.40 (8)°]. The other 2-pyridyl-2H-tetra-zole unit remains uncoordinated. The average Zn-N distance (2.156 Å) is somewhat longer than the distance between the Zn(II) center and the aqua ligand [2.108 (2) Å]. The coordinated pyrid-yl-tetra-zoyl rings are quasi-coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 1.9 (2)°, while the uncoordinated rings show a larger inter-planar angle of 21.3 (2)°. The flexible propane spacer displays a zigzag chain. Inter-molecular O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O inter-actions result in two-dimensional polymeric structures parallel to (100). Two C atoms of the spacer are disordered over two positions, with site occupancy factors of ca 0.85 and 0.15.

One of the pendant -(CH(2))(3)OH groups of the ligand is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.597?(5):0.403?(5) ratio. In the crystal, O-H?Cl and O-H?O hydrogen bonding helps to establish the packing.

Project description:The reaction of Ni(OAc)(2)·4H(2)O with 1-(2-carb-oxy-benzo-yl)thio-semicarbazide (H(3)L) produces the title complex, [Ni(3)(C(9)H(6)N(3)O(3)S)(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(6)]·C(5)H(5)N·2H(2)O, which contains an linear array of three Ni(II) atoms. The asymmetric unit contains half of the complex mol-ecule, a water mol-ecule and a half-mol-ecule of pyridine. The central Ni(II) atom, located on a crystallographic inversion centre, has an octa-hedral N(4)O(2) environment. The other two Ni(II) atoms have a square-pyramidal N(3)OS environment, each bridged to the central Ni(II) atom via the L(3-) group. The carboxyl-ate groups coordinate to the metal atoms in a monodentate fashion. The water mol-ecule is linked to the complex mol-ecule via O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The mol-ecules further assemble into a one-dimensional network parallel to [001] via inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds.
