Trans-Bis(N'-isopropyl-idene-benzo-hydrazidato-?N',O)bis-(pyridine-?N)nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: The complex mol-ecule of the title compound, [Ni(C(10)H(11)N(2)O)(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)], has a crystallographically imposed centre of symmetry. The Ni(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by the O and N atoms of two trans arranged anionic bidentate hydrazone ligands forming the equatorial plane and by the N atoms of two pyridine mol-ecules at the axial positions. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H?N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into columns parallel to the b axis.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(2)Cl(3)O(2))(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(4)], was prepared by the reaction of pyridine and trichloro-acetatonickel(II) in ethanol solution at room temperature. The Ni(II) atom is located on a twofold rotation axis and has a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination made up of four N atoms of the pyridine ligands and two O atoms of trichloro-acetate anions. The mol-ecular structure and packing are stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, trans-di-aqua-(1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-undecane-κ4 N 1,N 4,N 8,N 11)nickel(II) bis-(pyridine-2,6-di-carboxyl-ato-κ3 O 2,N,O 6)nickel(II) {[Ni(L)(H2O)2][Ni(pdc)2] where L = 1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-undecane (C7H20N4) and pdc = the dianion of pyridine-2,6-di-carb-oxy-lic acid (C7H3NO4 2-)} consists of an [Ni(L)(H2O)2]2+ complex cation and a [Ni(pdc)2]2- anion. The metal ion in the cation is coordinated by the four N atoms of the tetra-amine ligand and the mutually trans O atoms of the water mol-ecules in a tetra-gonally elongated octa-hedral geometry with the average equatorial Ni-N bond length slightly shorter than the average axial Ni-O bond [2.087 (4) versus 2.128 (4) Å]. The ligand L adopts its energetically favored conformation with five-membered and six-membered chelate rings in gauche and chair conformations, respectively. In the complex anion, the NiII ion is coordinated by the two tridentate pdc2- ligands via their carboxyl-ate and nitro-gen atom donors in a distorted octa-hedral trans-NiO4N2 geometry with nearly orthogonal orientation of the planes defining the carboxyl-ate rings and the average Ni-N bond length [1.965 (4) Å] shorter than the average Ni-O bond distance [2.113 (7) Å]. In the crystal, the NH donor groups of the tetra-amine, the carb-oxy-lic groups of the pdc2- anion and the coordinated water mol-ecules are involved in numerous N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, leading to electroneutral sheets oriented parallel to the (001) plane.

Project description:In the mononuclear title compound, [Ni(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)], the Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two pyridine-2-aldoxime (PaoH) ligands and two acetate groups, with cis coordination for the pairs of identical ligands. While each acetate group binds to the Ni(II) atom by one O atom, each PaoH chelates the Ni(II) atom through two N atoms. The O atom on PaoH is not deprotonated and does not participate in bonding to the Ni(II) atom. Thus, the Ni(II) atom exhibits an octa-hedral environment. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions and inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions are present in the structure. Adjacent mol-ecules pack along [100] through van der Waals forces.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)][Ni(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (pydcH(2)) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different Ni(II) atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)(2)](2)-?-Ni(H(2)O)(4)}(2-) anion are centrosymmetric. All Ni(II) atoms exhibit an octa-hedral coordination geometry. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-O?? stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [3.570?(1), 3.758?(1) and 3.609?(1)?Å], are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Ni(C(6)H(16)N(2))(2)]Br(2) or [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)]Br(2) (Et(2)en is asymmetric N,N-diethyl-ethylene-diamine), containing an Ni(II) atom (site symmetry ) in square-planar NiN(4) coordination, is described and contrasted with related structures containing Ni(II) in octa-hedral coordination with axial X(-) ligands (X(-) = variable anions). The dialkyl-ated N atom has an appreciably longer bond length to the Ni(II) atom [1.9666?(13)?Å] than does the unsubstituted N atom [1.9202?(14)?Å]. The Ni-N bond lengths in [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)]Br(2) are significantly shorter than corresponding values in tetra-gonally distorted [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)X(2)] compounds (X = (-)O(2)CCF(3), OH(2), or (-)NCS), which have a triplet ground state. The electronic configuration in these axially ligated [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)X(2)] compounds populates the metal-based d(x) (2) (-y) (2) orbital, which is Ni-N anti-bonding in character. Each Et(2)en ligand in each [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)](2+) cation forms a pair of N-H?Br hydrogen bonds to the Br(-) anions, one above and below the NiN(4) square plane. Thus, a ribbon of alternating Br(-) pairs and [Ni(Et(2)en)(2)](2+) cations that are canted at 65° relative to one another is formed by hydrogen bonds.
