Poly[(3-nitro-benzoato)(?(3)-1,2,4-triazolato)cobalt(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Co(C(2)H(2)N(3))(C(7)H(4)NO(4))](n), the Co(II) atom is five-coordinated by three triazolate ligands and one bidentate 3-nitro-benzoate anion in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The triazolate ligand bridges the Co(II) atoms, generating a two-dimensional net parallel to the ab plane, in which both the Co(II) atom and the triazolate ligand act as three-connected nodes. Two weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds connect the nets.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of cobalt nitrate with 4,4'-bipyridine and 3-nitro-benzoic acid lead to the formation of the title complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n). In the crystal structure, the Co(II) atoms are coordinated by two terminal carboxyl-ate anions and four 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within slightly distorted octa-hedra. The Co(II) atom and one of the two independent 4,4'-bipyridine ligands are located on a twofold rotation axis, while the second independent 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule is located on a centre of inversion. One of the two rings of one 4,4'-bipyridine ligand is disordered over two orientations and was refined using a split model [occupancy ratio 0.68?(2):0.32?(2)]. The Co(II) atoms are connected by the 4,4'-bipyridine ligands into layers, which are located parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, [Co(C(7)H(4)IO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), contains one Co(II) cation, two iodo-benzoate anions and two water mol-ecules. One iodo-benzoate anion and one water mol-ecule bridge adjacent Co cations, forming a polymeric chain running along the a axis, while the other iodo-benzoate anion and water mol-ecule coordinate in a monodentate manner to the Co(II) cation, completing the slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the two independent anionic ligands, the carboxyl-ate groups are twisted away from the attached benzene rings by 51.38?(18) and 39.89?(11)°, and the two benzene rings are nearly perpendicular to each other with a dihedral angle of 86.09?(10)°. Intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between coordinating water mol-ecules and adjacent carboxyl-ate O atoms help to stabilize the mol-ecular structure. In the crystal, weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the polymeric chains into a three-dimentional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of CoCO(3) and 4-fluoro-benzoic acid afforded the title Co(II) complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)FO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n). The Co(II) atom is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by six O atoms from two water mol-ecules and four μ(2)-carboxyl-ate groups of 4-fluoro-benzoate anions, forming a distorted CoO(6) octa-hedron, with Co-O bond lengths in the range 2.071 (2)-2.130 (2) Å. All adjacent O-Co-O angles are in the range 84.78 (6)-95.22 (6)° and opposite angles are 180.0°. Each μ-carboxyl-ate group of the 4-fluoro-benzoate anions bridges two symmetry-related Co(II) atoms. Hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the coordinated water mol-ecules further connect the cobalt-carboxyl-ate units, forming layers perpendicular to the a axis. The cobalt-oxygen layers are encased in a sandwich-like fashion by layers of π-stacked 4-fluoro-benzoate anions. Within these layers the benzene rings of the 4-fluoro-benzoate anions are π-stacked, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.432 (4) Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), there are two symmetry-independent one-dimensional coordination polymers, which are approximately related by noncrystallographic inversion symmetry. Each zigzag chain is constructed from one Co(II) ion, one O-monodentate 5-nitro-isophthalate (ndc) dianion, one N,N'-bidentate 2,2'-bipyridyl ligand and one water mol-ecule. A symmetry-generated O,O'-bidentate ndc dianion completes the cobalt coordination environment, which could be described as very distorted cis-CoN(2)O(4) octa-hedral. The bridging ndc ligands result in parallel chains running along the a direction, and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds arising from the water mol-ecules complete the structure.

Project description:In the structure of the title complex, [Cs(C7H4NO2)(H2O)2] n , the caesium salt of 4-nitro-benzoic acid, the irregular CsO9 coordination sphere comprises three bridging nitro O-atom donors, a bidentate carboxyl-ate O,O'-chelate inter-action, a triple-bridging water mol-ecule and a monodentate water mol-ecule. A three-dimensional framework polymer is generated, within which there are water-carboxyl-ate O-H⋯O and water-water O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.
