ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(2)(C(18)H(24)N(2))], the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms of the bipyridine ligand and four O atoms from the two nitrate anions in a distorted octahedral fashion. The dihedral angle between the planes of the two pyridine rings is 11.52?(10)°. In the crystal structure, weak C-H?O inter-actions may help to establish the packing.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)Cl(2)(NO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], which consists of a chloride-bridged Cu(II) dimer, the Cu atom is in a distorted octa-hedral environment defined by two N atoms from the 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid ligand (H(2)bpdca), two bridging chlorido ligands, and two O atoms from an equatorial water mol-ecule and an axial nitrate anion, respectively. The two halves of the dimeric unit are related by an inversion centre at the midpoint between the two Cu atoms. Both carboxylic acid groups in the H(2)bpdca ligand remain protonated, as confirmed by the two sets of C-O bond lengths. The dinuclear mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network via inter-molecular hydrogen bonds.

Project description:A simple, ligand-free synthesis of the important bipyridyl ligand 4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine is presented. 5,5'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine is also synthesized by the same protocol. The syntheses efficiently couple the parent 2-chlorpyridies by a nickel-catalyzed dimerization with manganese powder as the terminal reductant.

Project description:The title hydrate, [Mo(2)Cl(2)O(5)(C(18)H(24)N(2))(2)]·0.2H(2)O, has been isolated as the oxidation product of [Mo(?(3)-C(3)H(5))Cl(CO)(2)(di-t-Bu-bipy)] (where di-t-Bu-bipy is 4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine). A ?-oxide ligand bridges two similar MoCl(di-t-Bu-bipy)O(2) units, having the terminal oxide ligands mutually cis, and the chloride and ?-oxide trans to each other. In the binuclear complex, the coordination geometries of the metal atoms can be described as highly distorted octa-hedra. Individual complexes co-crystallize with a partially occupied water mol-ecule of crystallization (occupancy factor = 0.20; H atoms not located), with the crystal packing being mediated by the need to effectively fill the available space. A number of weak C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions are present.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the five-coordinated Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal CuN(4)O environment; the O atom is in the axial position whereas the N atoms from two bipyridine (bipy) ligands are in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. The nitrite anion is equally disordered over two sets of sites.

Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(26)N(2) (2+)·2Cl(-), the complete dication is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry; both N atoms are protonated and engaged in strong and highly directional N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Additional weak C-H?Cl contacts promote the formation of a tape along ca. [110]. The crystal structure can be described by the parallel packing of these tapes. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with twin law [-1 0 0, 0 -1 0, -0.887 0.179 1] and the final BASF parameter refining to 0.026?(2) .

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title polymeric compound, [Cu(C(12)H(12)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the asymmetric unit consists of one Cu(II) ion, one 5-tert-butyl-isophthalate (tbip) and one 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) ligand. The copper(II) ion is four-coordin-ated by two N atoms from bipy and two O atoms from two tbip ligands, leading to a distorted tetrahedral coordination. Each tbip ligand adopts a bis-monodentate coordination mode to connect two symmetry-related copper(II) ions, so forming a zigzag polymer chain parallel to [001]. The tert-butyl methyl groups are disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.506 (6)/0.494 (6).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(5)(C(12)H(12)O(4))(4)(OH)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), consists of three Zn(II) ions (one of which is located on a twofold rotation axis), two 5-tert-butyl-isophthalate ligands, one 4,4'-bipyridine ligand and one hydroxide group. The five Zn(II) ions form a penta-nuclear zinc cluster, which is further bridged by ten organic ligands, forming two-dimensional sheets. The central zinc ion of the cluster has site symmetry 2 and is octahedrally coordinated in a N(2)O(4) donor set, whereas the other four zinc atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated by four O atoms. The coordination modes for the 5-tert-butyl-isophthalates are bis-(bidentate) or bidentate-monodentate. Hydrogen bonds are formed between adjacent sheets through the hydroxide groups and the O atoms of the monodentate carboxyl-ate groups. The two tert-butyl groups are disordered over two positions with ratios of 0.64 (2):0.36 (2) and 0.85 (3):0.15 (3).

Project description:The title compound, [Sn(2)(C(4)H(9))(2)(C(12)H(20))(2)], has two 1-stannacyclo-penta-diene skeletons related by inversion symmetry located at the mid-point of the Sn-Sn bond [2.7682 (2) Å]. Thus, the asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule. The planarity of the stannacyclo-penta-diene ring is illustrated by the dihedral angle of 0.3 (1)°, defined by the C(4) and C-Sn-C planes. To avoid steric repulsion, the two stannole rings are oriented in an anti fashion through the Sn-Sn bond. These structural features are similar to those of other bis-tannoles.

Each Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by three O atoms from two biphen-yl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one aqua O atom and two N atoms of a 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand. Intramolecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water molecules and the carboxylate O atoms are also present.
