Poly[aqua-(μ(5)-2-oxido-4-sulfonato-benzoato)lanthanum(III)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [La(C(7)H(3)O(6)S)(H(2)O)](n), forms a three-dimensional framework in which the asymmetric unit contains one La(III) atom, one 5-sulfosalicylate (2-oxido-4-sulfonatobenzoate) ligand and one coordinated water mol-ecule. The La(III) atom is coordinated by nine O atoms from three carboxyl-ate, three sulfonate and two hydroxyl groups, and one water mol-ecule, forming a distorted trigonal-prismatic square-face tricapped geometry.

Project description:The reaction of lanthanum nitrate and 4-ethyl-benzoic acid (EBAH) in aqueous solution yielded the title polymer, [La(C(9)H(9)O(2))(3)(C(9)H(10)O(2))(H(2)O)](n). The asymmetric unit contains one La(III) atom, three 4-ethyl-benzoate (EBA) ligands, one neutral EBAH ligand and one coordinated water mol-ecule. Each La(III) ion is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from six bridging-bidentate EBA ligands, one O atom from a monodentate EBAH ligand and one water O atom in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The adjacent La(III) ions are linked by the carboxyl-ate groups of EBA ligands in a bridging-bidetate coordination mode, resulting in an infinite chain structure along the c axis. O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the water mol-ecules, carboxyl-ate groups and carboxyl H atoms are formed within the one-dimensional polymer. One of the ethyl groups is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.717 (7) and 0.283 (7).

Project description:The reaction of lead(II) nitrate and benzoic acid in aqueous solution yields the title polymer, [Pb(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)](n). The asymmetric unit contains one Pb(II) ion, two benzoate ligands and one water mol-ecule. The Pb-O bond distances are in the range 2.494 (4)-2.735 (4) Å. The Pb⋯Pb distance is 4.0683 (4) Å, indicating an insignificant metal-metal inter-action. The Pb(II) atom has a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry chelated by two carboxyl-ate O atoms. The Pb atoms are bridged through a coordinating water mol-ecule and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from another two benzoate ligands, giving an infinite three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involved the coordinating water and carboxyl-ate O atoms enhance the stability of the supra-molecular arrangement.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Er(2)(C(2)H(4)O(6)PS)(OH)(3)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), consists of two Er(3+) ions, one (C(2)H(4)O(6)PS)(3-) ion, three OH(-) ions, and two water mol-ecule. The Er(3+) ions form ErO(8) polyhedra., which are connected by μ- and μ(3)-O atoms. Thus, inorganic Er-O-Er layers of edge- and face-sharing polyhedra are observed. Whereas most often in metal phosphono-sulfonates the organic linker bridges adjacent layers, in the title compound, the (O(3)PC(2)H(4)SO(3))(3-) anion is only connected to one Er-O-Er layer. Short interatomic O⋯O distances [2.898 (8), 2.997 (14) and 2.768 (10) Å] indicate hydrogen bonding between the layers. The noncoordinated water mol-ecules are located between the layers.

Project description:In the title compound, {[La(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]Cl}(n), the La(III) atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and is eight-coordinated by four O atoms from four isonicotinate ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted square-anti-prismatic coodination environment. Adjacent La(III) atoms are bridged by two carboxyl-ate groups from two isonicotinate ligands, forming an extended chain along [001]. These chains are linked through O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network with channels in which the chloride anions form O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. Intra-chain O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908 (2) Å] are also observed.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pb₂(C₇H₄O₆S)₂(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂(H₂O)₂]·CH₃COOH, the seven-coordinate Pb(II) atom is chelated by two N atoms of one 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, four O atoms from three 5-sulfosalicylate dianions and one water O atom. Each dianion serves as a bridging ligand, connecting adjacent Pb(II) atoms into a centrosymmetric polymeric chain extending parallel to [001]. There are π-π inter-actions between the aromatic systems of neighbouring dianions, with plane-to-plane distances of 3.371 (2) Å, and between phenanthroline ligands, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.484 (2) Å. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding additionally stabilizes the crystal packing. The acetic acid mol-ecules are incorporated in the voids of this arrangement. They exhibit half-occupancy due to disorder around a centre of inversion.

Project description:The title compound, [Dy(2)(C(3)H(2)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(6)](n), forms a coordination polymeric structure comprising hydrated dysprosium ions and malonate ligands. In the asymmetric unit, there are one dysprosium ion, one and a half malonate ligands, and three water mol-ecules. Each Dy(III) atom is coordinated by six O atoms from four malonate ligands and by three water mol-ecules, and displays a tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry. The malonate ligands adopt two types of coordination mode, linking dysprosium centres to form a three-dimensional coordination polymer. The extensive network of hydrogen bonds in this polymer enhances the structural stability.

One of the carboxyl-ate groups bridges adjacent Ca(2+) ions, forming a polymeric ribbon structure parallel to [010]. In the crystal, the benzoate anions and water mol-ecule inter-act by way of inter- and intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
