2-Amino-3-nitro-pyridinium hydrogen oxalate.

ABSTRACT: In the non-centrosymetric title compound, C(5)H(6)N(3)O(2) (+)·C(2)HO(4) (-), the hydrogen oxalate anions form corrugated chains parallel to the c axis, linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The 2-amino-3-nitro-pyridinium cations are anchored between theses chains by N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and van der Waals and electrostatic inter-actions, creating a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the cation of the title mol-ecular salt, C5H6N3O2 (+)·C2HO4 (-), the dihedral angle between the aromatic ring and the nitro group is 3.5 (3)°; in the anion, the dihedral angle between the CO2 and CO2H planes is 10.5 (2)°. In the crystal, the anions are linked into [100] chains by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The cations cross-link the chains by way of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and the structure is consolidated by C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Ribbons of cations linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds run along the b-axis direction, and are further hydrogen bonded to the anions by N-H?O and C-H?O links, generating a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C(5)H(8)N(3) (+)·2C(2)HO(4) (-)·H(2)O, contains two crystallographically independent 2,6-diamino-pyridinium cations, a pair of hydrogen oxalate anions and a water mol-ecule. Both 2,6-diamino-pyridinium cations are planar, with maximum deviations of 0.011 (2) and 0.015 (1) Å, and are protonated at the pyridine N atoms. The hydrogen oxalate anions adopt twisted conformations and the dihedral angles between the planes of their carboxyl groups are 31.01 (11) and 63.48 (11)°.
