ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(18)H(16)N(2)O(2)S(2), the benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 7.41 and 86.59° with the two outer pyridine N-oxygen rings. Two short intramolecular C-H?S contacts occur. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?O hydrogen bonds, C-H?? inter-actions and weak ?-? staking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance 3.7596?(7)?Å].

Project description:Mol-ecules of the title compound, C(22)H(24)N(2)O(2)S(2), lie across centres of inversion. The two thio-pyridine N-oxide groups adopt a stepped trans configuration with respect to the benzene ring, by virtue of the symmetry. The oxopyridinium ring forms a dihedral angle of 79.9?(2)° with the benzene ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by a strong ?-? inter-action between the pyridinium rings of adjacent mol-ecules [ring centroid-centroid distance = 3.464?(3)?Å].

Project description:The title complex, [Fe(2)(C(20)H(14)N(2)O(2))(2)O]·CH(4)O·2H(2)O, is composed of μ-oxido-bridged ferric 2,2'-[o-phenylene-bis(nitrilo-methylidyne)]diphenolate (salphen) dimers, one methanol mol-ecule and two H(2)O mol-ecules. Each iron(III) ion, surrounded by two coordinating N and O atoms from the salphen ligand and one bridging O atom, shows a five-coordinate square-pyramidal geometry. One of the two solvent water mol-ecules is disordered over three positions with occupancies of 0.44 (1), 0.37 (1) and 0.19 (1).

Project description:There are two monomeric units in the asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, [Na(C(5)H(4)NOS)(C(10)H(8)N(2)O(2)S(2))(H(2)O)](n). The Na(I) ions are six coordinated by four O atoms, one S atom and one water mol-ecule, forming a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond stabilizes the conformation of the mol-ecule. The crystal packing is consolidated by inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?N and O-H?S hydrogen bonds, ?-? inter-actions [with centroid-centroid distances of 3.587?(2)?Å] together with weak C-H?? inter-actions. The mol-ecules are linked into polymeric chains along the b-axis direction.

Each Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated by three chloride ligands, a pyridine N-oxide O atom and a water mol-ecule. Project description:In the crystal structure of the mononuclear title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2]·C10H8N2, the Mn(II) cation is coordin-ated in an all-cis configuration by two N-bound thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands within a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. The asymmetric unit consists of one Mn(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions and two 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands, as well as two non-coordinating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligands that are each located on centres of inversion. In the crystal structure, the discrete [Mn(NCS)2(C10H8N2)2] complex mol-ecules are arranged in such a way that cavities are formed, in which the solvent 2,2'-bi-pyridine mol-ecules are located. Apart from van der Waals forces, there are no remarkable inter-molecular inter-actions present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, [HgI2(C10H8N2O2S2)] n , a one-dimensional coordination polymer with HgI2 units and 2,2'-di-thio-bis-(pyridine N-oxide) spacer ligands in an alternating fashion, forms helical chains running along the b axis in the crystal. Within a single coordination polymer strand, the axially chiral 2,2'-di-thio-bis-(pyridine N-oxide) ligands are homochiral, but the enanti-omeric conformation is present in adjacent strands. Within a coordination polymer strand, the iodido ligands point towards the centroids of the aromatic rings of the pyridine N-oxide moieties in the coordination sphere of HgII. Moreover, intra-strand C-H⋯O and C-H⋯I inter-actions, and inter-strand short S⋯I and S⋯O contacts are observed.

The coordination environment of the Zn(2+) ion is distorted square-pyramidal and it is coordinated by N(2)O(2) of the Schiff base ligand and chloride; each Pb(2+) ion is coordinated by the four 6,6'-dimeth-oxy-2,2'-[o-phenyl-ene-bis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate (L) O atoms and two chloride ions. The Zn(II)Pb(II) dinuclear unit, through an inversion-symmetry operation, forms a tetra-meric complex with double chloride bridges.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(NO3)2(C10H8N2)], the Cu(II) cation is chelated by two nitrate anions and by one 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand in a distorted N2O4 octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the pyridine rings is 1.92?(11)°. In the crystal, ?-? stacking between parallel pyridine rings of adjacent complex mol-ecules is observed, the centroid-centroid distance being 3.6788?(19)?Å. Weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds further link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.
