μ-Oxido-bis-({2,2'-[o-phenylenebis(nitrilo-methylidyne)]diphenolato}iron(III)) methanol monosolvate dihydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Fe(2)(C(20)H(14)N(2)O(2))(2)O]·CH(4)O·2H(2)O, is composed of μ-oxido-bridged ferric 2,2'-[o-phenylene-bis(nitrilo-methylidyne)]diphenolate (salphen) dimers, one methanol mol-ecule and two H(2)O mol-ecules. Each iron(III) ion, surrounded by two coordinating N and O atoms from the salphen ligand and one bridging O atom, shows a five-coordinate square-pyramidal geometry. One of the two solvent water mol-ecules is disordered over three positions with occupancies of 0.44 (1), 0.37 (1) and 0.19 (1).

The ten-coordin-ate Dy(III) ion is ligated by six O atoms of three nitrate groups and four O atoms from the ligand [Dy-O = 2.368 (3)-2.601 (3) Å]. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules and solvent mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(2)(C(16)H(12)Br(2)N(2)O(2))(2)O], the complete mol-ecule is generated by twofold symmetry, with the bridging O atom, which links the iron centres, lying on the roatation rotation axis. The Fe(III) ion is chelated by the N,N,O,O-tetra-dentate Schiff base dianion, resulting in an FeN(2)O(3) square-based pyramid, with the two N atoms in the basal plane.

The Eu(III) ion is ligated to three nitrate groups, four O atoms from the salen-type ligand and one methanol mol-ecule, leading to a distorted tenfold coordination for the rare earth cation. One of the three nitrate anions is disordered over two positions in a 0.66 (5):0.34 (5) ratio.

Project description:The title Mn(III) compound, {[Mn(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(CH(3)COO)]·CH(3)OH}(n), was synthesized by a reaction between mangan-ese(II) acetate and ethyl-enebis(4-meth-oxy-salicylaldimine). The structure is made up of bis-(4-meth-oxy-salicyldene)ethyl-enediaminatomanganese(III) units bridged by acetate groups, with Mn-N = 1.9786?(9), Mn-O = 1.8784?(10) and Mn-O(acetate) = 2.056?(9) and 2.2571?(9)?Å, forming a one dimensional polymer (-Mn-acetate-Mn-acetate-) along [100]. The Mn(III) atom is in a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral environment with cis angles ranging from 81.87?(4) to 96.53?(4)° and trans angles ranging from 166.11?(3) to 173.93?(3)°. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to the phenolate O atom. In addition to this classical hydrogen bond, there are weak C-H?O inter-actions. The structure was determined from a crystal twinned by pseudo-merohedry.

Project description:Two independent mol-ecules of the title solvated complex, [V(C16H14N2O2)O]·CH3OH, also known as [N,N'-bis-(salicyl-idene)ethyl-enedi-amine]-oxidovanadium(IV) or vanadyl salen, crystallize in the asymmetric unit. Each disordered methanol solvent mol-ecule [occupancy ratios 0.678?(4):0.322?(4) and 0.750?(5):0.250?(5)] is linked to a [N,N'-bis-(salicyl-idene)ethyl-enedi-amine]-oxidovanadium(IV) mol-ecule by an O-H?O hydrogen bond and to others by C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The resulting extended structure consists of a bilayer of mol-ecules parallel to the ab plane. Despite the fact that solvates are common in complexes derived from substituted analogues of the N,N'-bis-(salicyl-idene)ethyl-enedi-amine ligand, the title solvate is the first one of [N,N'-bis-(salicyl-idene)ethyl-enedi-amine]-oxidovanadium(IV) to be structurally characterized. The two vanadyl species have very similar inter-nal geometries, which are best characterized as distorted square-based pyramidal with the vanadium atom displaced from the N2O2 basal plane by 0.5966?(9)?Å in the direction of the doubly-bonded oxide ligand.

The O atom of the uncoordinated water mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic twofold axis. In the crystal, O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds help to establish the packing.

The asymmetric unit contains two mol-ecules. Each V(IV) atom is coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry by two N atoms and two O atoms from a ligand in the basal plane and by an oxide O atom in the apical position. Weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds lead to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.
