ABSTRACT: The title compound, 3C(7)H(9)ClO(3)·CHCl(3), crystallizes with mol-ecules of 3-exo-chloro-8-oxabicyclo-[3.2.1]oct-6-ene-2,4-diol (A) and chloro-form in a 3:1 ratio, in the space group R3m. Mol-ecules of A straddle a crystallographic mirror plane, whereas the chloro-form mol-ecules (C and H atoms) lie additionally on the threefold axis. The mol-ecules of A are linked into right- and left-helical chains by means of O-H?O hydrogen bonds, thus forming columns running along the c axis. Six inter-penetrated columns form a channel in which the solvent mol-ecules (chloro-form) are located.

Project description:The title compound 1-exo (with minor amounts of its C8 epimer 1-endo) was prepared by Wolff-Kishner reduction of the cycloadduct of 1,3-cyclohexadiene and cyclopropylketene. The [1,3]-migration product 2-endo was synthesized by efficient selective cyclopropanation of endo-5-vinylbicyclo[2.2.2]oct-2-ene at the exocyclic ?-bond. Gas phase thermal reactions of 1-exo afforded C8 epimerization to 1-endo, [1,3]- migrations to 2-exo and 2-endo, direct fragmentation to cyclohexadiene and vinylcyclopropane, and CPC rearrangement in the following relative kinetic order: kep > k13 > kf > kCPC.

Project description:X-ray crystallography was used to confirm the structure of the enantio-enriched title compound, C(10)H(12)Cl(2)O, a bicylic enol ether. A bridged boat-like structure is adopted and the dichloro-methyl-ene C atom is positioned significantly removed from the core bicyclic unit. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules pack to form sheets approximately perpendicular to the a and c axes.

Project description:In the title complex, C(60)·4C(2)Cl(4), the C(60) mol-ecule is located on an inversion centre and there are two tetra-chloro-ethyl-ene (TCE) mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. Both TCE mol-ecules show positional disorder, with occupancy ratios of 0.75:0.25 and 0.56:0.44. Four fullerene C atoms form short contacts [3.208?(17) and 3.223?(17)?Å] with the centres of the TCE double bonds, indicating that C(60)-solvent inter-actions are largely ?-? in nature.

The full tetra-imino-diphenol macrocyclic ligand is generated by the application of an inversion centre. The macrocyclic ligand features strong intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds. The dihedral angles formed between the phenyl ring incorporated within the macrocycle and the peripheral phenyl rings are 82.99?(8) and 88.20?(8)°. The cyclo-hexane solvent mol-ecule lies about a site of [Formula: see text] symmetry. Other solvent within the lattice was disordered and was treated with the SQUEEZE routine [Spek (2009). Project description:Indium triflate-mediated nucleophilic ring-opening reactions of 3-aza-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene and -[2.2.2]oct-5-ene systems with alcohols and water were investigated. Reactions of [2.2.1] bicyclic systems gave anti-1,2-, anti-1,4- and syn-1,4-ring-opened products with moderate to excellent regio- and stereoselectivity. When [2.2.2] bicyclic systems were subjected to similar reaction conditions, only anti-1,2 and anti-1,4-ring-opened products were obtained.

Project description:The bis-Schiff base title compound, C(20)H(16)N(2)O(4)·C(7)H(8), crystallized as a toluene solvate. In the solid state, it is present as its prototropic tautomer formed by transfer of one of the ortho-hydroxyl H atoms. The proton transfer is accompanied by a shift of electron pairs, as is evident from the observed C-O and C-N bond distances of 1.305?(2) and 1.315?(2)?Å, which are largely consistent with C=O and C-N distances. The actual mol-ecule present in the solid state is thus the charge-neutral ?-keto amine, with a small contribution of its zwitterionic valence tautomer via partial delocalization of electron pairs along the N-C-C-C-O atom chain. The dihedral angles between the central benzene ring and the two outer benzene rings of the Schiff base are 51.99?(8) and 12.95?(9)°. Intra-molecular O-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds generate S(6) ring motifs, whereas intra-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds generate S(5) ring motifs. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H?O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into one-dimensional zigzag chains along the b axis; these chains are further stacked by O-H?O and weak C-H?O inter-actions along the c axis, forming two-dimensional extended networks parallel to the bc plane. In addition, the crystal structure is further stabilized by weak C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions.
