Bis(di-2-pyridylmethane-diol-?N,O,N')copper(II) bis-(tetra-fluorido-borate) dihydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Cu(C(11)H(10)N(2)O(2))(2)](BF(4))(2)·2H(2)O, was isolated as a dihydrate from a 1:2 molar mixture of copper(II) tetra-fluoridoborate hexa-hydrate with di-2-pyridyl ketone in aqueous solution. The centrosymmetric complex cation is structurally similar to that found in previously reported salts and exhibits Cu-O bonds deviating by 25 degrees from an octa-hedral geometry by the so-called 'off-axis angle' distortion. The BF(4) (-) anion exhibits a two site disorder of the fluorine atoms [ratio 0.210?(8):0.790?(8)].

Project description:The centrosymmetric title complex, [Cu(2)Br(4)(C(11)H(10)N(2)O(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, was one of three complexes isolated by slow evaporation of an acetonitrile reaction mixture of CuBr(2) with di-2-pyridyl ketone (1:1 molar ratio). The title complex contains a 1:1 metal-to-ligand ratio of copper(II) with the hydrated form of the ligand di-2-pyridylmethane-diol. The copper centers are bridged by bromide donors, leading to a Cu-Cu distance of 4.090?(6)?Å. The crystals form as non-merohedral twins with two components related by a 180° rotation around the normal to [100]; the selected sample had a twin ratio of 0.63:0.37.

Project description:The reaction of di-2-pyridyl ketone with copper dichloride dihydrate and tartaric acid in water afforded the title compound, [Cu(C(11)H(10)N(2)O(2))(2)]C(4)H(4)O(6). The Cu(II) atom lies on an inversion center N,O,N'-chelated by two di-2-pyridylmethane-diol ligands in a tetragonally distorted octa-hedral geometry. The tartrate anion is also located on an inversion center and has disordered hydroxyl groups, each with an occupancy factor of 0.5. The hydroxyl groups of the complex cation are hydrogen bonded to the carboxyl-ate groups of the anion, thus connecting the two building units.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(11)H(10)N(2)O(2))(2)](NO(3))(2), consists of an Ni(II) atom coordinated by two tridentate chelating di-2-pyridylmethane-diol [(2-py)(2)C(OH)(2)] ligands. The Ni(II) atom is located on an inversion center. The geometry around the Ni(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral. The gem-diol (2-py)(2)C(OH)(2) ligand adopts the coordination mode η(1):η(1):η(1). The Ni-N and Ni-O bond lengths are typical for high-spin Ni(II) in an octa-hedral environment [Ni-N = 2.094 (2) and 2.124 (3) Å, and Ni-O = 2.108 (3) Å]. One of the hydr-oxy H atoms is split over two positions which both inter-act with the nitrate anion. The occurence of different O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds leads to the formation of a layer parallel to the (101) plane.

Project description:In the title complex, {[Cu(C(11)H(8)N(2)O)(2)](BF(4))(2)}(n), the Cu(II) ion is situated on an inversion centre and adopts an N(4)F(2) octa-hedral coordination geometry with four N atoms from four different bis-(pyridin-3-yl)methanone ligands at the equatorial sites and two independent tetra-fluoridoborate anions weakly bonded at the axial sites via two F atoms [Cu⋯F = 2.613 (3) Å]. Chains with the bridging ligands are formed along the a axis. C-H⋯F inter-actions stabilize the structure. C-O⋯π inter-actions also occur.

Project description:The title complex, {[Cu(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(C(25)H(22)P(2))(2)](BF(4))(2)·2.5CH(2)Cl(2)}(n), contains chains of Cu(I) centres bridged alternately by two (diphenyl-phosphino)methane (dppm) and 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy) ligands. Each Cu(I) atom is coordinated by one N atom of 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy) and two P atoms of two (diphenyl-phosphino)methane (dppm) ligand, and has a trigonal-planar coordination geometry. There is an inversion centre midway between each pair of adjacent Cu atoms. The distance of two Cu(I) atoms separated by two (diphenyl-phosphino)methane bridging ligands is 3.732 (3) Å, and 4,4'-bipyridine 11.138 (5) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C4H12P2S2)2]BF4, both diphosphine di-sulfide mol-ecules bind to the Cu(I) atom, as chelating ligands via the S atoms, forming a monovalent cation with a slightly distorted tetra-hedral coordination around the Cu(I) atom. The average Cu-S distance is 2.350 (15) Å, with small but possibly significant differences within each chelate ring. Ligand P=S distances average 1.964 (3) Å, and the P-P distances are 2.2262 (13) and 2.2166 (14) Å. The ligand chelate rings are twisted in opposite directions, with one in the λ and one in the δ configuration. Although the anisotropic displacement parameters of the F atoms of the anion are quite large compared to that of the B atom, difference Fourier syntheses indicate only one set of sites for the F atoms. In the crystal, possible C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds may stabilize the orientation. The B-F distances, uncorrected for libration, average 1.359 (6) Å.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(H2O)6](BF4)2·3C4H4N2O2, comprises discrete [Cu(H2O)6](2+) cations and BF4 (-) anions along with three equivalents of pyrazine 1,4-dioxide (pzdo). The hexa-aqua-copper(II) ion and all three pzdo mol-ecules lie about crystallographic inversion centers. The lattice is supported by an extensive hydrogen-bonding network. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the [Cu(H2O)6](2+) and pzdo units creates a pseudo-hexa-gonal lattice parallel to the bc plane. The BF4 (-) anions lie in the voids of that lattice, held in place by O-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, and also generate BF4 (-)-pzdo-BF4 (-)-pzdo stacks via short F⋯N contacts [2.866 (3)-3.283 (4) Å].

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CN)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)](BF(4))(2), crystallizes with two copper-containing cations and four tetra-fluoro-borate anions in the asymmetric unit. The structure represents a second crystal form of the salt, the first being an acetonitrile solvate [Watton (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. E65, m585-m586]. The complex cation has a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, whereas the previous structure exhibits a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. One of the four BF(4) (-) counter-ions is disordered, with a refined site occupancy of 0.8615?(17):0.1385?(17).

Project description:The title compound, [Ir2H2O(C3H9P)6](BF4)2·2H2O, was isolated from the reaction between [Ir(COD)(PMe3)3]BF4 and H2 in water (COD is cyclo-octa-1,5-diene). The asymmetric unit consists of one Ir(III) atom bonded to three PMe3 groups, one hydride ligand and half an oxide ligand, in addition to a BF4 (-) counter-ion and one water molecule of hydration. The single oxide ligand bridging two Ir(III) atoms is disordered across an inversion center with each O atom having a 50% site occupancy. Each Ir(III) atom has three PMe3 groups occupying facial positions, with the half-occupancy O atoms, a hydride ligand and an Ir-Ir bond completing the coordination sphere. The Ir-Ir distance is 2.8614 (12) Å, comparable to other iridium(III) metal-metal bonds. Two water mol-ecules hydrogen bond to two BF4 (-) anions in the unit cell.
