Tris[2-(2-pyridylimino-meth-yl)phenol-ato(0.67-)]europium(III) nitrate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Eu(C(12)H(9.33)N(2)O)(3)]NO(3), was obtained by the reaction of Eu(NO(3))·3H(2)O and the Schiff base ligand 2-(2-pyridylimino-meth-yl)phenol. The Eu atom is located on a threefold rotation axis and is nine-coordinated by three tridentate Schiff base ligands in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The O atom at the phenol hydr-oxy group is partially deprotonated and the H atoms are modelled with one-third occupancy according to the space group R. Offset face-to-face ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.886?(3)?Å] and edge-to-face C-H?? inter-actions are found between adjacent mol-ecules. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond is also present.

Project description:The metal center in the structure of the title compound, [Eu(NCS)(3)(C(15)H(15)NO(2))(3)], is coordinated by three Schiff base 2-meth-oxy-6-[(4-methyl-phen-yl)iminiometh-yl]phenolate (L) ligands and three independent thio-cyanate ions. In the crystal structure, the acidic H atom is located on the Schiff base N atom and hydrogen bonded to the phenolate O atom. The coordination environment of the Eu(III) ion is nine-coordinate by three chelating methoxy-phenolate pairs of O atoms and three N-atom terminals of the thio-cyanate ions. The compound is isostructural with the Ce(III) analogue [Liu et al. (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. E65, m650].

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(14)N(6)O, was prepared by the condensation of 4-(trifluoro-meth-yl)phenol and sodium pyrazol-1-ide in a yield of 58%. The dihedral angles formed by the planes of the pyrazole rings are 50.7 (2), 71.2 (3) and 95.8 (2)°. The mol-ecules are associated into dimers by pairs of inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the hy-droxy groups and pyrazole N atoms. In addition, π-π stacking between the phenol rings of these inversion-related dimers is observed, with a ring centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.9247 (10) Å.

Project description:In the title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Eu(C(8)H(5)N(2)O(2))(3)](n), the Eu(III) ion is eight-coordinated by the carboxyl-ate O atoms of six ligands in a distorted monocapped penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. The ligands link Eu(III) ions, forming helical chains parallel to the c axis, with Eu?Eu separations of 4.0678?(11)?Å. The chains are further inter-connected by N-H?N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. The crystal studied was a racemic twin, as suggested by the Flack parameter of 0.367?(14).

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric complex, [Eu(2)(C(4)H(5)O(2))(6)(H(2)O)(4)]·2C(4)H(6)O(2), the unique Eu(III) cation is coordinated by seven carb-oxylate O atoms from four methacrylate ligands and two water mol-ecules in a slightly disorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic environment. Two Eu(III) ions are bridged by carboxyl-ate groups, forming a dinuclear complex. The formula unit also contains two mol-ecules of methacrylic acid. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming one-dimensional chains propagating along the b-axis direction.

Project description:The title Schiff base, C(11)H(14)ClNO(4), originally refined as a neutral mol-ecule [Chumakov, Antosyak, Mazus, Tsapkov & Samus (2000), Crystallogr. Rep.45, 945-950], is inter-preted as a zwitterionic compound. There are two independent zwitterions in the asymmetric unit. Five of the six hydr-oxy groups of the -CH(2)OH fragments are disordered. In one zwitterion, two are disordered over three sites [0.53 (1):0.33 (1):0.14 (1) and 0.65 (1):0.18 (1):0.17 (1)] and the third over two sites [0.66 (1):0.34 (1)]. In the second zwitterion, two are disordered over two sites [0.84 (1):0.16 (1) and 0.83 (1):0.17 (1)] and the third hydr-oxy group is ordered.

The L ligands chelate with a strong Eu-O(deprotonated phenolate) bond and a weak Eu-O(meth-oxy) contact, the latter can be inter-preted as the apices of the bicapped square-anti-prismatic Eu(III) polyhedron. Intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds occur.
