ABSTRACT: Colourless crystals of the title compound, C(10)H(12)Br(2)O(2), were synthesized from 1,2-dimethoxy-benzene. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The two meth-oxy groups are twisted out of this plane, with dihedral angles of 84.7?(3) and 68.5?(3)°, and point in opposite directions. The structure is disordered by a non-crystallographic twofold rotation which superimposes Cl and Br at two of the halogen sites. The refined occupancies for the major and minor components are 0.517?(2) and 0.483?(2).

The pyrazole rings have a 21.09?(5)° angle between their mean planes and exhibit a trans-like geometry in which the in-plane lone pairs of electrons on the 2-N nitrogen atoms point in opposite directions.

Project description:The title compound, C(25)H(20)N(4)O(2), is a ditopic ortho-hydro-quinone-based bis-(pyrazol-1-yl)methane ligand. The dihedral angles between the planes of the pyrazole rings and their attached phenyl rings are 17.4?(3) and 5.9?(4)°. The pyrazole rings make a dihedral angle of 87.84?(16)°. One of the two hy-droxy groups forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the other hy-droxy group, whereas the second is involved in an inter-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond. As a result of these inter-molecular hydrogen bonds, helical chains running along the b axis are formed.

Project description:The title compound, C(26)H(22)O(4), is a derivative of 1,4-bis-(phenyl-ethyn-yl)benzene substituted by four meth-oxy groups at the terminal benzene rings. The asymmetric unit consists of two half-molecules; one centrosymmetric molecule is planar but the other is non-planar, with dihedral angles of 67.7 (1)° between the central benzene ring and the terminal benzene rings. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules form a zigzag mol-ecular network due to π-π [the inter-planar and centroid-centroid distances between the benzene rings are 3.50 (1) and 3.57 (1) Å, respectively] and C-H⋯π inter-actions (2.75 Å). Introduction of the four meth-oxy groups results in the supra-molecular architecture.
