ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(14)H(13)NO(3)S, the phenyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 81.5?(1)° with the benzene ring. The mol-ecular structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond and weak C-H?O inter-actions. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by weak inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C15H15NO4S, was obtained by the condensation of 4-amino-aceto-phenone and 4-meth-oxy-benzene-sulfonyl chloride. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 86.56?(9)° and the mol-ecule has an approximate V-shaped conformation. The C atom of the meth-oxy group is roughly coplanar with its attached ring [deviation = 0.177?(3)?Å], as is the methyl C atom of the acetyl group with its ring [deviation = 0.065?(2)?Å]. An intra-molecular C-H?O inter-action generates an S(6) ring. In the crystal, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into [010] chains. Weak C-H?? inter-actions are also observed.

The crystal structure features dimers made up of one each of the two asymmetric molecules linked by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds. Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(14)H(15)NO(2)S, shows the sulfonamide N atom to be approximately perpendicular to the plane through the S-bound benzene ring [the N-S-C-C torsion angle is -87.4?(3)°] and to lie to the opposide side of this ring to the two sulfonamide O atoms. The N-bound benzene ring is splayed out with respect to the rest of the mol-ecule so that overall, the mol-ecule adopts a twisted conformation. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 64.5?(3)°. In the crystal, supra-molecular chains aligned along the b axis are formed via N-H?O hydrogen bonds.
