Potassium 2-(N-hydroxy-carbamo-yl)acetate monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, K(+)·C(3)H(4)NO(4) (-)·H(2)O, consists of potassium cations, monoanions of 2-carboxy-acetohydroxamic acid [namely 2-(N-hydroxy-carbamo-yl)acetate] and solvent water mol-ecules. The elements of the structure are united in a three-dimensional network by numerous K?O coordinate bonds and O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The coordination sphere of the K(+) ions may be described as a distorted double capped octa-hedron. Bond lengths and angles are similar to those in related compounds.

Project description:The title steroid, C(31)H(53)NO(4), was prepared from the corresponding 5α,6α-epoxy-cholestane. The conformation of the six-membered rings is close to a chair form, while the five-membered ring adopts a twist conformation. The hydroxyl and acetamide groups are in axial positions. The nucleophilic species bound to the steroid nucleus at position 6 by the β-face, whereas the hydroxyl group at position 5 has α-orientation. All rings are trans-fused. The crystal packing shows that the mol-ecules related by twofold symmetry exist as O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonded dimers.

The hydroxyl groups of the 8-hydroxy-quinoline residues are involved in intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds, which, in one case, forms a part of a three-center inter-action. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds assemble the mol-ecules into a one-dimensional polymeric structure extended along the a axis. The 4-hydroxy-phenyl group of one mol-ecule forms an O-H?O hydrogen bond, in which the hydroxyl H atom is disordered, with its inversion center counterpart.

Project description:The structure of the title hydrated mol-ecular salt, C14H23N2O4 (+)·C2H3O2 (-)·H2O, was determined as part of a wider study on the use of the mol-ecule as a polydentate ligand in the synthesis of Mn(III) clusters with magnetic properties. The cation features intra-molecular O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions. The crystal structure features a range of inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, principally O-H⋯O inter-actions between all three species in the asymmetric unit. An R (2) 4(8) graph-set hydrogen-bonding motif between the anion and water mol-ecules serves as a unit which links to the cation via the di-ethano-lamine group. Each O atom of the acetate anion accepts two hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, K(+)·C5H11O8S(-)·H2O [systematic name: potassium (1S,2S,3S,4R)-1,2,3,4,5-penta-hydroxy-pentane-1-sulfonate monohydrate], formed by reaction of d-lyxose with potassium hydrogen sulfite in water, crystallizes as colourless square prisms. The anion has an open-chain structure in which the S atom, the C atoms of the sugar chain and the oxygen atom of the hy-droxy-methyl group form an essentially all-trans chain with the corresponding torsion angles lying between 178.61 (12) and 157.75 (10)°. A three-dimensional bonding network exists in the crystal structure involving coordination of two crystallographically independent potassium ions by O atoms (one cation being hexa- and the other octa-coordinate, with each lying on a twofold rotation axis), and extensive inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding.
