Bis(1,3-diethyl-benzimidazolium) tetra-bromidomercurate(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, (C(11)H(15)N(2))(2)[HgBr(4)], the tetra-coordinated Hg(II) center of the complex anion adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry [Hg-Br = 2.5755 (8)-2.623 (11) Å and Br-Hg-Br = 103.78 (19)-116.4 (3)°]. One of the Br atoms is disordered over two sites [site-occupancy factors = 0.51 (6) and 0.49 (6)]. The N-C-N angles in the cations are 110.7 (6) and 111.4 (7)°. In the crystal packing, a supra-molecular chain is formed via both weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds and π-π aromatic ring stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.803 (1) Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(C(12)H(11)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, contains one-half of the complex mol-ecule and two uncoordin-ated water mol-ecules. The four water O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Zn(II) centre ( symmetry) form a distorted square-planar arrangement, while the distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry is completed by the O atoms of the zwitterionic 2-methyl-benzimidazolium-1,3-diacetate ligands in the axial positions. The benzimidazole ring system is planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.041 (3) Å. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding results in the formation of a non-planar six-membered ring. In the crystal structure, strong intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π contacts between benzimidazole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.899 (1) Å] may further stabilize the structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(C(12)H(11)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, the Co(II) atom lies on an inversion center and is octa-hedrally coordinated by six O atoms from four water mol-ecules and two monodentate zwitterionic 2-methyl-benzimidazolium-1,3-diacetate ligands. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π inter-actions between the imidazole and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.9031 (17) Å] consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The structure of the title ionic copper(II) compound, (C(13)H(15)N(2))(2)[CuBr(4)], is built up of isolated 1,3-diallyl-benzimidazolium cations and [CuBr(4)](2-) anions which are inter-connected by electrostatic inter-actions. Differences in packing of the heterocyclic cores results in a different structure compared with earlier investigated chloride and bromide analogues.

Project description:The title compound, [Au2(C27H26P2)2][NiCl4]·C4H10O, consists of a digold(I) complex cation, an [NiCl4](2-) complex anion and a diethyl ether solvent mol-ecule. Two 1,3-bis-(di-phenyl-phosphan-yl)propane (dppp) ligands bridge two Au(I) atoms, forming a metallacycle in which each of the Au(I) atoms is coordinated in a slightly distorted linear environment by two P atoms. In the complex anion, the Ni(II) atom is coordinated by four chloride ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The complex cation and the complex anion form a cation-anion pair through two Au⋯Cl contacts of 3.040 (1) and 3.021 (2) Å. One of the phenyl groups of the dppp ligand is disordered over two positions with equal occupancies.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric binuclear title complex, [Co(2)(C(11)H(14)NO(2))(4)(C(10)H(14)N(2)O)(2)], the two Co(II) cations [Co?Co = 2.6199?(5)?Å] are bridged by four 4-(diethyl-amino)-benzoate (DEAB) anions. The four nearest O atoms around each Co(II) ion form a distorted square-planar arrangement, the distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry being completed by the pyridine N atom of an N,N-diethyl-nicotinamide (DENA) ligand. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the carboxyl-ate group is 7.06?(11)° in one of the independent DEAB ligands and 4.42?(9)° in the other. The benzene rings of the two independent DEAB ligands are oriented at a dihedral angle of 86.35?(8)°. The pyridine ring is oriented at dihedral angles of 31.43?(6) and 57.92?(7)° with respect to the two benzene rings. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. Weak C-H?? inter-actions are also present in the crystal structure.

Crystal structures of isotypic poly[bis-(benz-imid-azolium) [tetra-μ-iodido-stannate(II)]] and poly[bis-(5,6-di-fluoro-benzimidazolium) [tetra-μ-iodido-stannate(II)]].

Project description:The isostructural title compounds, {(C7H7N2)2[SnI4]} n , (1), and {(C7H5F2N2)2[SnI4]} n , (2), show a layered perovskite-type structure composed of anionic {[SnI4](2-)} n sheets parallel to (100), which are decorated on both sides with templating benzimidazolium or 5,6-di-fluoro-benzimidazolium cations, respectively. These planar organic heterocycles mainly form N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds to the terminal I atoms of the corner-sharing [SnI6] octa-hedra (point group symmetry 2) from the inorganic layer, but not to the bridging ones. This is in contrast to most of the reported structures of related compounds where ammonium cations are involved. Here hydrogen bonding to both types of iodine atoms and thereby a distortion of the inorganic layers to various extents is observed. For (1) and (2), all Sn-I-Sn angles are linear and no out-of-plane distortions of the inorganic layers occur, a fact of relevance in view of the material properties. The arrangement of the aromatic cations is mainly determined through the direction of the N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds. The coherence between organic bilayers along [100] is mainly achieved through van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(4)(C(7)H(5)NS)(2)] or [(C(7)H(5)NS)Cu](2)(?-O(2)CCH(3))(4), crystallizes with one mol-ecule per unit cell. The coordination number of copper is six with four basal O atoms, one axial N atom and one axial Cu atom. Four acetate ligands act as bidentate linker and connect two Cu atoms, with a crystallographic inversion center located at the mid-point of the Cu-Cu bond. The acetate ligands form slightly distorted square planes around each metal ion, while the copper ions are displaced by 0.2089?(4)?Å from these planes towards the N atoms. Thus, the Cu-Cu distance is elongated to 2.6378?(7)?Å, compared with the 2.2180?(7)?Å distance between the two basal planes. The angle between the basal plane and the Cu-N bond is 4.84?(6)°.

Inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions are present between neighboring benzene rings, thia-zole and benzene rings and neighboring thia-zole rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.711?(2), 3.554?(1), 3.536?(2) and 3.572?(1)?Å].

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Pb(2)(C(4)H(5)NO(4))(2)(C(6)H(6)N(4)S(2))(2)]·4H(2)O, the dinuclear Pb(II) complex mol-ecule is centrosymmetric. The Pb atom is chelated by a tridentate imino-diacetate anion (IDA) and a diamino-bithia-zole (DABT) ligand, while a carboxyl-ate O atom from an adjacent IDA anion further bridges the Pb atom with a longer Pb-O bond [2.892?(3)?Å]. The lone-pair electrons of the Pb atom occupy an axial site in the ?-penta-gonal-bipyramidal coordination polyhedron. The IDA anion displays a facial configuration: its chelating five-membered rings assume an envelope configuration. Within the DABT ligand, the two thia-zole rings are twisted relative to each other, making a dihedral angle of 9.51?(17)°. Extensive N-H?O, O-H?O and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonding helps to stabilize the crystal structure.

Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Activity of Novel 1,3-Diethyl-1,3-bis(4-nitrophenyl)urea and Its Metal(II) Complexes.

Project description:A bioactive ligand and its dinuclear metal(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Visible), nuclear magnetic resonance (¹H-NMR), mass spectroscopy and molar conductance measurements. The ligand has been crystalized in the monoclinic system with a P21/c space group. The biological activities of metal complexes were evaluated using disc diffusion and broth dilution methods. In vitro antibacterial activities of the ligand and their metal complexes were examined against two Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) and two Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Serratia marcescens) and compared to the standard drugs. It was found that metal complexes displayed much higher antibacterial activities and better inhibitory effects than that of the ligand and standard drugs. Among these complexes, the compound having Zn-metal showed greater antibacterial activity against all four tested bacteria and was more effective against Serratia marcescens with the zone inhibition diameter of 26 mm and MIC value of 31.25 µg/mL.
