ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(16)H(12)N(2)O(8)·2C(3)H(7)NO, the complete tricyclic compound is generated by a crystallographic centre of symmetry. In the crystal, the tricycle is linked to two adjacent N,N-dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecules by O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(8)N(2)O(8)·2C(3)H(7)NO or L·2DMF (DMF = N,N-dimethyl-formamide), contains one half of the centrosymmetric mol-ecule L and one solvent mol-ecule, which is disordered between two orientations in a 0.555?(4):0.445?(4) ratio. Inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link one L and two DMF mol-ecules into a centrosymmetric hydrogen-bonded cluster. The crystal packing is further stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, C(26)H(20)N(2)O(4), the central isoindole core is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.043 Å). The phenyl rings lie to either side of the plane [dihedral angles = 88.64 (5) and 67.74 (6)°] and the dihedral angle between the phenyl rings is 63.39 (7)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O inter-actions; notably, one carbonyl O atom accepts three such bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C24H16N2S4, consists of a central pyromellitic di-imide substituted with an S atom and terminal benzyl groups. The mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic inversion centre so that the asymmetric unit contains half of the mol-ecule. The mol-ecule was prepared by thio-nation of N,N'-di-benzyl-pyromellitic di-imide with Lawesson's reagent and has an S-shaped conformation similar to other compounds of this type. The phenyl groups are tilted by 72.69?(8)° with respect to the plane of the central arene ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by C-H?? inter-actions and weak short S?S contacts, forming supra-molecular layers extending paralled to the ab plane. The crystal studied was found to be non-merohedrally twinned, with the minor component being 0.113?(3).

In the crystal structure, the picrate anions and solvent dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules are connected to the cation via inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds. Further stabilization is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds. One of the DMF moleclues is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.737?(3) and 0.263?(3).

Project description:In the title co-crystal, C(22)H(16)O(10)·C(22)H(18)O(8), the independent tetra-methyl 9,10-dihydro-9,10-dioxoanthracene-2,3,6,7-tetra-carboxyl-ate, (I), and tetra-methyl anthracene-2,3,6,7-tetra-carboxyl-ate, (II), components occupy separate crystallographic inversion centers. In (II), the dihedral angles between the mean aromatic plane and the two independent carboxyl-ate planes are 41.32 (10) and -38.35 (10)°. The methyl-carboxyl-ate groups of (I) are disordered, with each resolvable into two groups. In the least disordered carboxyl-ate, the apparent angles between the mean aromatic plane and the two partial carboxyl-ate planes [site occupations = 0.510 (3) and 0.490 (3)] are 16.8 (3) and 23.3 (3)°. In the highly disordered group, the apparent angles between the mean aromatic plane and the two partial carboxyl-ate planes [site occupations = 0.510 (3) and 0.490 (3)] are 78.3 (3) and -74.1 (3)°. In addition, this extreme disorder leads to an artificially elongated C(aromatic)-C(carbox-yl) bond.
