ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title Schiff base compound, C(28)H(32)N(2)O(2), has a twisted geometry, the dihedral angles between the central benzene ring and the other two benzene rings being 29.12?(14) and 26.01?(14)°. Four intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and two intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds stabilize the mol-ecular structure. In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are stacked along the a axis and stabilized by ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6724?(17)?Å]. The crystal studied was found to be a non-merohedral twin, the refined ratio of twin components being 0.374?(5):0.626?(5).

There are two intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the two hydr-oxy groups, which generate S(6) ring motifs. In the crystal structure, the Schiff base mol-ecules are linked into a chain along the a axis by C-H?? inter-actions. The acetone solvent mol-ecules are attached to the chain via C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(22)H(20)N(2)O(4)·2CHCl(3), a new Schiff base compound, lies across a crystallographic inversion centre. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond generates a six-membered ring, producing an S(6) ring motif. Inter-molecular bifurcated C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the two O atoms of the Schiff base ligand and the H atom of the chloro-form solvent of crystallization, generate an R(2) (1)(5) ring motif. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [centroid to centroid distance = 3.6158 (10) Å]. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are stacked down the c axis.

The other fragment is not planar; however, the methoxy-phenol group is planar [with the maximum deviation of 0.033?(2)?Å] and makes a dihedral angle of 41.7?(3)° with the central benzene ring. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(H(2)O)][Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(CH(3)OH)], contains two discrete Mn(III) complexes of a Schiff base ligand, with an N(2)O(2) donor set. Both Mn(III) centers are in a distorted octa-hedral geometry with the N(2)O(2) donor atoms of the tetra-dentate Schiff base dianion in the equatorial plane. The axial positions in the coordination environment of one Mn(III) complex are occupied by a chloride ion and a water mol-ecule, but a methanol mol-ecule replaces the water mol-ecule in the other complex. The coordinated water mol-ecule takes part in an O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond between the two Mn(III) complexes. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite one-dimensional chains along the [100] direction. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds together with weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions. A C-H⋯π inter-action is also observed in the crystal structure.

The central benzene ring makes a dihedral angle of 16.5 (2)° with the two outer phenolate rings. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecules are arranged into anti-parallel columns along the a axis.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, tetra-aqua-tetrakis-{μ(3)-6,6'-di-oxido-2,2'-[1,2-phenyl-enebis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolato}octa-zinc(II) dimethyl sulfoxide tetra-solvate dihydrate, [Zn(8)(C(20)H(12)N(2)O(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·4C(2)H(6)OS·2H(2)O, contains one quarter of a Zn(II) octa-nuclear complex with symmetry, one dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule and one half of a water mol-ecule which lies on a twofold rotation axis. The Zn(II) atoms of the octa-nuclear complex have two different five-coordinate environments, viz. ZnN(2)O(3) and ZnO(5). All eight Zn(II) centers adopt a distorted square-pyramidal coordination; four Zn(II) ions have the N(2)O(2) tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand bound in a basal plane and the coordinated water mol-ecule occupying the apical site, while the remaing four Zn(II) ions are bound by five O atoms from three Schiff base ligands. In the crystal structure, Zn(II) complex mol-ecules, coordinated and uncoord-inated water mol-ecules and dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecules are linked via O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional framework.
