ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(19)H(17)N(2)O(3)P, the six-membered 1,3,2-oxaza-phospho-rine ring adopts a twist-boat conformation with the phosphoryl O atom in an equatorial position. The P=O(oxide) bond length is 1.457?(1)?Å and the average value of the P-O distances is 1.588?Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(19)H(17)N(2)O(2)P, the six-membered 1,3,2-oxaza-phosphinine ring adopts a boat conformation with the phosphoryl O atom in an equatorial position. The dihedral angle between the 6-methyl-2-pyridyl and phenyl groups is 75.5?(1)°. These substituents are trans to each other, and are oriented at angles of 57.2?(1) and 74.8?(1)°, respectively, to the benzene ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds. The phosphoryl O atom participates in inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions with the neighbouring mol-ecules, forming centrosymmetric R(2) (2)(14) dimers.

Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(15)N(3)O(2), the fused ring system is almost planar [the dihedral angle between the six-membered rings is 1.81 (6)°]. The 2-tolyl ring is approximately orthogonal to this plane [dihedral angle = 83.03 (7)°] as is the acetonitrile group [C-O-C-C torsion angle = 79.24 (14)°] which is also syn to the methyl substituent of the tolyl group. In the crystal, supra-molecular layers are formed in the bc plane mediated by C-H⋯O, C-H⋯N and C-H⋯π inter-actions. The tolyl group is disordered over two positions in a 0.852 (3):0.148 (3) ratio.

The fused-ring system is buckled owing to the ethyl-ene linkage in the central ring with the two flanking aromatic rings being twisted by 31.9?(1)°. The ring of the dimeth-oxy-phenyl substituent is twisted by 72.4?(1)° relative to the amino- and cyano-bearing aromatic ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by duplex amine N-H?O(meth-oxy) hydrogen bonds in a cyclic association [graph-set R(2) (2)(7)], generating a helical chain structure extending along [201].
