N'-tert-Butyl-N'-(3,5-dimethyl-benzo-yl)-2,2-dimethyl-4-oxochroman-6-carbo-hydrazide.

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(25)H(30)N(2)O(4), the steric size of the tert-butyl group causes the 3,5-dimethyl-phenyl ring to adopt a transoid geometry with respect to the N-C(O) bond. The six-membered heterocyclic ring is disordered over two sites, with occupancies of 0.553?(4) and 0.447?(4). Intra-molecular C-H?O inter-actions are present. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(37)H(56)O(6), possesses twofold symmetry, with the twofold axis passing through the quaternary C atom. In the crystal, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked via O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the phenol OH group and the carbonyl O atom, forming chains propagating in [101]. Within these chains, rings are formed with an R(2) (2)(20) motif. There are also C-H?O inter-actions present within the rings.

The angles at the two electron-donating tert-butyl substituents are smaller than 120°, at the electron-withdrawing eth-oxy substituent larger than 120°, and at the imine substituent equal to 119.59 (16)°. The latter does not reflect the electron-donating nature of the imine group due to the presence of other substituents.

Both mol-ecules reveal intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, whereas van der Waals inter-actions define the crystal packing.
