ABSTRACT: There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(15)H(9)Cl(3)O. The fluorene rings of the two mol-ecules are both coplanar within 066?(3)?Å. In the crystal, C-H?O and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into sheets running parallel to (100).

The mol-ecules are linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds into infinite chains running along the b axis.
