Project description:In the organic cation of the title compound, C(13)H(20)N(3) (+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, the two pyrrolidine rings adopt twisted conformations. The pyridine ring makes dihedral angles of 14.57 (6) and 23.96 (6)° with the mean planes of the pyrrolidine rings. In the crystal structure, pairs of bifurcated inter-molecular O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the water mol-ecules and chloride anions into an R(4) (4)(8) ring motif. Inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds further inter-connect these rings with the organic cations into a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(C(21)H(19)N(5)O(4)S(2))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)], the metal center is seven-coordinate, with an approximate penta-gonal-bipyramidal configuration. The Ni atom is chelated by a dianionic penta-dentate Schiff base via the pyridine N atom, the two azomethine N atoms and the two sulfonyl O atoms. The latter coordinate to Ni at different distances, viz. 2.3337 (12) and 2.7988 (12) Å. Two apically coordinated pyridine mol-ecules complete the seven-coordin-ate geometry. The dihedral angle between the two pyridine ring planes is 68.25 (6)°.

The (H(4)L)(2+) cation lies across a centre of inversion. The pyridiniumimine fragments of (H(4)L)(2+) adopt syn orientations. Intra-molecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of S(5) motifs. In the crystal, neighbouring cations are connected by π-π inter-actions between pyridinium units with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.600 (1) Å. Moreover, the crystal components are assembled into two-dimensional layers via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, with no direct hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between cations.
