ABSTRACT: The Cu atom of the title complex, [Cu(C(13)H(19)N(2)O(2))(C(10)H(8)N(2))]ClO(4), has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with all three of the donor atoms from the N,N',O-tridentate Schiff base ligand in the equatorial positions and the bipyridine N atoms in an equatorial-axial binding mode. The Cu atom is 0.1801?(11)?Å above the N(3)O mean basal plane.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(13)H(20)N(2)O(2))(2)](ClO(4))(2), the Cu(II) atom in the complex dication is chelated by two phenolate O atoms and two imine N atoms from two zwitterionic 2-[2-(isopropyl-ammonio)ethyl-imino-meth-yl]-5-methoxy-phenolate ligands, forming a distorted square-planar geometry. One of the perchlorate anions is disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.611?(15) and 0.389?(15). Intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed in the complex dication. In the crystal structure, the perchlorate anions are linked to complex dications by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(7)O(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))]ClO(4), the Ni(II) atom is in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination by two N atoms from the 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligand and two O atoms from the deprotonated 2-formyl-6-methoxy-phenolate (mbd) ligand. The bipy ligand is nearly coplanar with the Ni(II) square plane, the Ni atom being only 0.042?(2)?Å from the mean plane, whereas the benzaldehyde plane is folded with respect to the square plane, making a dihedral angle of 19.17?(8)°. One of the O atoms of the perchlorate anion is involved in a weak inter-action with the Ni atom, with an Ni-O distance of 2.5732?(18)?Å. The packing is stabilized by weak C-H?O inter-actions.
