ABSTRACT: Each of the two independent mol-ecules of the title comound, C(14)H(20)N(2)O(3), exists in the zwitterionic form as the imino N atoms are protonated. The =N-H unit forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond to the negatively charged O atom, and also a weaker intermolecular N-H?O bond, the latter resulting in inversion dimers.

Project description:The central Cd(II) atom in the trinuclear title compound, [Cd(3)(C(14)H(19)N(2)O(3))(2)(CH(3)COO)(4)], lies on a center of inversion and is bonded to the O atoms of four acetate groups as well as to the phenolate O atoms of the mono-deprotonated Schiff base ligands in a distorted all-trans octa-hedral geometry. Two of the acetate groups function in a ?(2)-bridging mode, while the other two each chelate to the terminal Cd(II) atom and simultaneously bind to the central metal atom in a ?(3)-bonding mode. The Schiff base anions N,O-chelate to the terminal metal atoms. The morpholine ring assumes a chair conformation.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(10)N(2)O(4), crystallized as the zwitterionic tautomer. As a result, the phenolate C-O(-) bond [1.296 (2) Å] is shorter than a normal Csp(2)-O(H) bond, and the azomethine C=N bond [1.314 (2) Å] is longer than a normal C=N double bond. The mol-ecule is nearly planar, the mean plane of the nitro-substituted benzene ring forming dihedral angles of 9.83 (7) and 8.45 (9)° with the other benzene ring and with the nitro group, respectively. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into double-stranded chains along the b-axis direction. Within the chains there are π-π interactions involving the benzene rings of adjacent molecules [centroid-centroid distance = 3.669 (1) Å]. The chains are linked via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming R(2) (1)(6), R(2) (1)(7) and R(2) (2)(10) ring motifs.

Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(16)BrN(3)O(4)S, is a Schiff base ligand of 5-bromo-salicylaldehyde and sulfisoxazole [or N-(3,4-dimethyl-5-isoxazol)sulfanilamide]. The present structure is a zwitterion and is a more precise reinterpretation of the structure which was originally reported by Hämäläinen, Lehtinen & Turpeinen [Arch. Pharm. (1986), 319, 415-420]. The two aromatic rings which make π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance 3.7538 (18) Å] through intermolecular interactions. There is also a C-Br⋯π inter-action [3.6333 (15) Å] with the heterocyclic ring. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond also exists. Dimers are formed due to inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding links a methyl C atom and the phenolate O atom. The dimers are linked by C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, where the C atom is from the Schiff base group and the N atom is of five-membered heterocyclic ring.

Project description:The structure of the title salt, C(13)H(20)N(3)O(+)·0.94ClO(4) (-)·0.06Cl(-), contains a zwitterionic Schiff base with a net positive charge and a perchlorate anion having substitutional disorder with Cl. In the cation, the azomethine N atom is protonated and donates hydrogen bonds to the phenolate O atom and to the tertiary N atom of the piperazine ring. In the crystal, two Schiff base mol-ecules are linked about a center of inversion by a pair of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The resulting dimers are N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonded to the perchlorate anions, forming a three-dimensional structure. The network is further consolidated by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(19)H(18)N(4)O(4)S, exists as a zwitterion in the solid state, with nominal proton transfer from a phenol group to the imine N atom. The 2,3-dihy-droxy-benzaldehyde fragment is oriented at a dihedral angle of 35.51 (11)° to the adajacent aniline group and makes a dihedral angle of 76.99 (6)° with the 4,6-dimethyl-pyrimidin-2-amine group. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds close S(5) and S(6) rings, respectively; the same O atom accepts both bonds. In the crystal, polymeric chains along [001] are formed from mol-ecules joined end-to-end by N-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds; these feature R(2) (3)(6) loops. The polymeric chains are linked by C-H⋯O inter-actions and there are π-π inter-actions between the pyrimidine rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.446 (2) Å.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Mn(C(14)H(13)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(3)](NO(3))(2), is comprised of two Schiff base 2-meth-oxy-6-(N-phenyl-carboximido-yl)phenol (HL) ligands and three coordinated water mol-ecules. The Mn(II) ion lies on a twofold axis that bis-ects one water O atom. The coordination sphere of the five-coordinate Mn atom is completed by the two monodentate HL ligands and three coordinated water mol-ecules binding through their O atoms, affording a distorted tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry. In the phenolate ligands, the hy-droxy H atom transfers to the imine N atom. This H atom is also involved in an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond that imposes a nearly planar conformation on each ligand, with dihedral angles of 2.78?(3) and 2.43?(5)° between the aromatic rings of each ligand. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The former generates an S(6) loop via an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond and the latter generates an S(6) loop via an N-H⋯O hydro-gren bond. The aromatic rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 42.52 (10)°. In the crystal, C-H⋯π inter-actions occur and aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separations = 3.7106 (12) and 3.9177 (13) Å] consolidate the packing.

The Zn(II) atom is four-coordinated by the phenolate O atom and imine N atom of the bidentate zwitterionic Schiff base ligand 2-{[3-(cyclo-hexyl-amino)-prop-yl]imino-meth-yl}-5-meth-oxy-phenol, and by two chloride ions, generating a distorted ZnONCl(2) tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c-axis direction.
