Dichlorido[2-({[3-(cyclo-hexyl-aza-nium-yl)prop-yl]imino}-meth-yl)-5-meth-oxy-phenolate]zinc.

ABSTRACT: The title mononuclear zinc complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(17)H(26)N(2)O(2))], was obtained by the reaction of 2-hy-droxy-4-meth-oxy-benzaldehyde, N-cyclo-hexyl-propane-1,3-diamine and zinc chloride in methanol. The Zn(II) atom is four-coordinated by the phenolate O atom and imine N atom of the bidentate zwitterionic Schiff base ligand 2-{[3-(cyclo-hexyl-amino)-prop-yl]imino-meth-yl}-5-meth-oxy-phenol, and by two chloride ions, generating a distorted ZnONCl(2) tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the c-axis direction.

Each Cu(II) atom is four-coordinated by two phenolate O and two imine N atoms from two symmetry-related Schiff base 2-{[2-(isopropyl-aza-nium-yl)eth-yl]imino-meth-yl}-6-meth-oxy-phenolate (L) ligands in a distorted square-planar geometry. The ammonium groups are involved in the formation of N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, which link one dication and two anions into an electroneutral cluster. When very weak Cu-N interactions with a distance of 2.910 (5) Å between the metal and the thiocyanate anions in apical positions are considered, the secondary coordination polyhedron is a very elongated CuN(4)O(2) octahedron.

In the crystal, pairs of mol-ecules are connected via N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into inversion dimers. The mol-ecules are characterized by a planar indole moiety [maximum deviation = 0.012 (1) Å], a chair conformation of the cyclo-hexane ring and an anti-periplanar conformation of the H atom on the cyclo-hexane and the adjacent cyano group.
