[N,N'-Bis(4-chloro-phen-yl)pentane-2,4-diiminato]dicarbonyl-rhodium(I).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Rh(C(17)H(15)Cl(2)N(2))(CO)(2)], is a rhodium(I) derivative of a ?-diketiminato moiety. It is an example of a new type of ?-diketiminate derivative that has not yet been characterized via solid-state methods. The complex crystallizes with a distorted square-planar geometry about the Rh(I) atom (m symmetry). A weak inter-molecular C-H?O contact is observed.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn2(C21H25N2)2(OH)2], is a binuclear zinc complex formed by two bidentate ?-diketiminate (nacnac) ligands and two ?-hydroxide O atoms, bridging two mononuclear units into a centrosymmetric dimeric unit. Each Zn(2+) cation is coordinated by two N-donor atoms from the nacnac ligand and two O-donor atoms of hydroxide anions to give a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. The Zn-O bond lengths are 1.9643?(13) and 2.0022?(14)?Å, and the two Zn-N bond lengths are 1.9696?(14) and 1.9823?(14)?Å. The distance between the two Zn(2+) cations in the dimer is 2.9420?(4)?Å. Although hydroxide groups are present in the complex, no classical hydrogen-bonding inter-ations are observed because of the bulky ?-diketiminate ligands.

Project description:The title compound, C(34)H(25)Cl(3)O(3)S(2)·0.5CH(3)OH, was synthesized by the reaction of thio-phene-2-carbaldehyde with acetophenone and NaOH under solvent-free conditions, using tetra-butylammonium bromide as a phase-transfer catalyst. The central six-membered ring adopts a chair conformation with the bulky thio-phene, 4-chloro-phenyl and 4-chloro-benzoyl substituents in equatorial positions. The hydroxyl group is in an axial position and forms an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond to the carbonyl group of an adjacent 4-chloro-benzoyl substituent. The methanol solvent mol-ecules are disordered equally over two positions within one-dimensional channels, with site occupancy factors of 0.25.
