[3-(Iodo-acetamido)prop-yl]triphenyl-phospho-nium tetra-phenyl-borate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(23)H(24)INOP(+)·C(24)H(20)B(-), was prepared by treatment of 3-amino-propyl triphenyl-phospho-nium bromide hydrogen bromide with p-nitro-phenyl iodo-acetate at 203?K. The asymmetric unit contains a single cation and anion, which are linked in the crystal by inter-molecular N-H?? and inversion-related R(2) (2)(14) C-H?O inter-actions, which combine to form chains of cations and anions along the c axis.

In the crystal, C-H?Br contacts connect the entities of the title compound into a double zigzag chain along b. These chains are linked into a supra-molecular layer lying parallel to (10-1) by C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:In the course of substitution studies on the iron dihydrogen complex trans-[Fe(DMeOPrPE)(2)(H(2))H](BPh(4)) {DMeOPrPE = 1,2-bis-[bis-(methoxy-prop-yl)phosphino]ethane}, we discovered an unexpected transformation of the diphosphine ligand to a diphospho-nium dication without the use of any typical methyl-ating reagent. The P atoms in the dication of the title compound, C(20)H(46)O(4)P(2) (2+)·2C(24)H(20)B(-)·C(4)H(10)O, have a distorted tetra-hedral coordination with P-C(Me) distances of 1.791 (2) and 1.785 (2) Å. The P-C-C-P torsion angle about the central dimethyl-ene bridge is -168.3 (1)°.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title salt, C17H32N4 (2+)·2C24H20B(-), the C-N bond lengths in the CN3 unit of the guanidinium ion are 1.323 (4), 1.336 (5) and 1.337 (5) Å, indicating partial double-bond character in each. The C atom of this unit is bonded to the three N atoms in a nearly ideal trigonal-planar geometry [N-C-N angles = 117.7 (4), 120.9 (3) and 121.4 (3)°] and the positive charge is delocalized in the CN3 plane. The bonds between the N atoms and the terminal C-methyl groups of the guanidinium moiety all have values close to a typical single bond [1.452 (5)-1.484 (6) Å]. In the crystal, C-H⋯π inter-actions are present between guanidinium H atoms and the phenyl rings of both tetra-phenyl-borate ions. This leads to the formation of a two-dimensional supramolecular pattern along the ab plane.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, C(44)H(38)P(2) (2+)2BF(4) (-), consists of discrete dications inter-laced with the BF(4) (-) counter-ions. In each cation, both phospho-nium groups lie on the same side of the plane of the central benzene ring. The tetra-fluoro-borate anions are involved in intensive thermal motion, thus some B-F bond lengths [range 1.329 (6) to 1.391 (6) Å] deviate significantly from their standard values.

Project description:The title ionic salt, C21H20P(+)·C24H20B(-), crystallized with two independent vinyl-tri-phenyl-phospho-nium cations and two independent tetra-phenyl-borate anions per asymmetric unit. These four independent moieties contain nearly perfect tetra-hedral symmetry about their respective central C atoms. In the crystal, there are no ?-stacking or other inter-molecular inter-actions present.

C-H⋯π inter-actions are present between the guanidinium H atoms and the phenyl C atoms of one tetra-phenyl-borate ion. The phenyl rings form a kind of aromatic pocket, in which the guanidinium ion is embedded.

Project description:In the title compound, C(24)H(20)P(+)·C(2)HO(4) (-), two symmetry-independent ion pairs are present. The cations aggregate into puckered sheets via zigzag infinite chains of sixfold phenyl embraces and parallel fourfold phenyl embraces, while the anions form hydrogen-bonded chains between the sheets of cations. In the two independent oxalate anions, the angles between the normals to the two least-squares carboxyl-ate COO planes are unusually large, viz. 72.5 (1) and 82.1 (1)°.
