ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title salt, C(44)H(38)P(2) (2+)2BF(4) (-), consists of discrete dications inter-laced with the BF(4) (-) counter-ions. In each cation, both phospho-nium groups lie on the same side of the plane of the central benzene ring. The tetra-fluoro-borate anions are involved in intensive thermal motion, thus some B-F bond lengths [range 1.329?(6) to 1.391?(6)?Å] deviate significantly from their standard values.

The dihedral angle between the central and terminal benzene rings is 75.00 (7)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into chains along [121]. The chains are connected into layers via C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(24)H(22)O(4), the centroid of the central benzene ring lies on a special position of 2/m site symmetry, while the terminal aromatic rings are located on a mirror plane. The central and terminal benzene rings are perpendic-ular to each other. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are connected via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The network is further consolidated by a C-H⋯π inter-action.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(24)H(22)O(4), contains one half-mol-ecule, the other half being generated by a crystallographic center of inversion. The central benzene ring makes a dihedral angle of 72.49 (5)° with the terminal benzene ring. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming a sheet structure parallel to the bc plane. The sheets are stacked along the a axis via π-π inter-actions formed between the terminal benzene rings [centroid-centroid separation = 3.7276 (6) Å].

In the crystal, the dications and anions are ordered into columns running parallel to the c axis by contacts of the pro-ylidic CH(2) groups with the Cl atom of one and an ortho-F atom of another anion. The space between the columns is occupied by CH(2)Cl(2) solvent mol-ecules.

Tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium iodide-1,3,5-tri-fluoro-2,4,6-tri-iodo-benzene-methanol (3/4/1).

Project description:The crystallization of a 1:1 molar solution of 1,3,5-tri-fluoro-2,4,6-di-iodo-benzene (TFTIB) and tetra-phenyl-phosponium iodide (TPPI) from methanol produced tetra-gonal needles of pure TPPI and tabular pseudo-hexa-gonal truncated bipyramids of the title compound, 3C24H20P(+)·3I(-)·4C6F3I3·CH4O or (TPPI)3(TFTIB)4·MeOH. The asymmetric unit is composed of six TPPI mol-ecules, eight TFTIB mol-ecules and two methanol mol-ecules, overall 16 constituents. The formation of the architecture is essentially guided by a number of C-I⋯I(-) halogen bonds (XB), whose lengths are in the range 3.276 (1)-3.625 (1) Å. Layers of supra-molecular polyanions are formed parallel to (10-1) wherein iodide anions function as penta-, tetra- or bidentate XB acceptors. The structure is not far from being P21/n, but the centrosymmetry is lost due to a different conformation of a single couple of cations and the small asymmetry in the formed supra-molecular anion. One methanol mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to an iodide anion, while the second is linked to the first one via an O-H⋯O contact. This second methanol mol-ecule is more loosely pinned in its position than the first and presents very high anisotropic displacement parameters and a seeming shortening of the C-O bond length. The crystal studied was refined as a perfect inversion twin.

Project description:The title compound, C(10)H(12)N(2)O(4), is a phenyl dicarbamate with crystallographically imposed inversion symmetry. The dihedral angle between the carbamo-yloxy plane [i.e. the plane of the N-C(O)-O fragment; r.m.s. deviation = 0.002?(3)?Å] and the plane of the aryl ring is 29.2?(1)°. In the crystal, two different centrosymmetric N-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions are observed; these are described as R(2) (2)(8) and R(2) (4)(8) in graph-set notation. The rings form an alternating sequence, linking the mol-ecules into a sheet structure parallel to (011).

Project description:In the course of substitution studies on the iron dihydrogen complex trans-[Fe(DMeOPrPE)(2)(H(2))H](BPh(4)) {DMeOPrPE = 1,2-bis-[bis-(methoxy-prop-yl)phosphino]ethane}, we discovered an unexpected transformation of the diphosphine ligand to a diphospho-nium dication without the use of any typical methyl-ating reagent. The P atoms in the dication of the title compound, C(20)H(46)O(4)P(2) (2+)·2C(24)H(20)B(-)·C(4)H(10)O, have a distorted tetra-hedral coordination with P-C(Me) distances of 1.791 (2) and 1.785 (2) Å. The P-C-C-P torsion angle about the central dimethyl-ene bridge is -168.3 (1)°.
