ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(10)H(12)N(2)OS, the asymmetric unit consists of two independent mol-ecules. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules form R(4) (4)(28) centrosymmetric tetra-mers via O-H?N hydrogen bonds. These tetra-mers are stacked along the c axis via C-H?O hydrogen bonds. C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions are also present; in the latter, the centroid-centroid distances are 4.075?(1) and 3.719?(1)?Å.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(12)N(2)OS, adopts a twisted V-shape, with the S atom as the pivot. The benzimidazole ring system [maximum deviation = 0.015 (1) Å] makes a dihedral angle of 78.56 (7)° with the phenyl ring. The O atom of the ketone group is close to coplanar with its adjacent ring [O-C-C-C torsion angle = 11.0 (2)°]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into an infinite chain along [001]. The crystal packing also features a C-H⋯π inter-action.

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(19)H(24)S(2). In both mol-ecules, the aliphatic segment of the ligand is in an all-trans conformation: the -S-(CH(2))(5)-S-bridging chain is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation for all non-H atoms = 0.0393 and 0.0796?Å in the two mol-ecules) and maximally extended. Their mean planes form dihedral angles of 4.08?(6)/20.47?(6) and 2.22?(6)/58.19?(6)° with the aromatic rings in the two mol-ecules. The crystal packing is purely governed by weak inter-molecular forces.

Project description:The title compound, C(4)H(6)O(2)S(4), was prepared by repeating, with subtle improvements, a multi-step route originally described by Mott & Barany [J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. 1 (1984) ▶, pp. 2615-2621]. The title compound was obtained for the first time as a crystalline material. The two [(methyl-sulfan-yl)carbon-yl]sulfenyl moieties are essentially perpendic-ular to each other, each approximately planar (r.m.s. deviations of 0.02 and 0.01 Å) and with a C-S-S-C torsion angle = 90.99 (6)°, which compares well with the theoretical value of 90°.

Project description:The title compound, 0.75C(15)H(14)N(2)O·0.25C(15)H(14)N(2)O, is a co-crystal of 2-methyl-6-(6-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)phenol as the major component and 2-methyl-6-(5-methyl-1H-benz-imidazol-2-yl)phenol as the minor component. The refined site-occupancy ratio is 0.746?(4)/0.254?(4). The conformations of both components are identical except for that of the methyl substituent on the benzene ring of the benzimidazole unit which is positionally disordered over two positions. The mol-ecule is essentially planar, the dihedral angle between the benzimidazole plane and the benzene ring being 3.49?(4)°. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are linked through N-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along [201]. These chains are stacked approximately along the a-axis direction. The crystal packing is further stabilized by weak N-H?O and O?H?N hydrogen bonds, together with weak inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions. A ?-? inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.6241?(6)?Å is also observed between the substituted phenyl ring and that of the benzimidazole system.
