Bis[5-(2-pyrid-yl)pyrazine-2-carbonitrile]-silver(I) tetra-fluorido-borate.

ABSTRACT: In the title mononuclear complex, [Ag(C(10)H(6)N(4))(2)]BF(4), the Ag(I) atom adopts a square-planar N(4 )coordination geometry and is surrounded by two 5-(2-pyrid-yl)pyrazine-2-carbonitrile ligands. The tetra-fluorido-borate anions link the mononuclear cations through inter-molecular C-H?F hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, forming an infinite tape structure along [110]. Other weak inter-actions occur: ?-? stacking with centroid-centroid distances of 3.820?(2) and 3.898?(1)?Å between pyridyl rings and 3.610?(2) and 3.926?(2)?Å between pyrazinyl rings as well as F?? contacts involving the tetra-fluorido-borate anions and pyrazine rings [F?centroid = 2.999?(3)?Å]; these combine with the hydrogen-bonding inter-actions to link the mononuclear cations into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(H2O)6](BF4)2·3C4H4N2O2, comprises discrete [Cu(H2O)6](2+) cations and BF4 (-) anions along with three equivalents of pyrazine 1,4-dioxide (pzdo). The hexa-aqua-copper(II) ion and all three pzdo mol-ecules lie about crystallographic inversion centers. The lattice is supported by an extensive hydrogen-bonding network. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the [Cu(H2O)6](2+) and pzdo units creates a pseudo-hexa-gonal lattice parallel to the bc plane. The BF4 (-) anions lie in the voids of that lattice, held in place by O-H⋯F hydrogen bonds, and also generate BF4 (-)-pzdo-BF4 (-)-pzdo stacks via short F⋯N contacts [2.866 (3)-3.283 (4) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, (C(24)H(18)N(6))[AuCl(4)](2), the cation is located on an inversion center. Each of the two independent Au(III) ions lies on an inversion center and has a distorted square-planar geometry. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.5548 (16) and 3.7507 (16) Å] and Au⋯π inter-actions [Au⋯centroid distance = 3.6424 (10) Å] are effective in the stabilization of the structure, resulting in the formation of a supra-molecular structure. Intra-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds are present in the cation.

Project description:The title complex, [Ag(C(18)H(15)P)(4)]BF(4), was prepared by the reaction of silver(I) tetra-fluorido-borate and triphenyl-phosphane in the presence of 1,2-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl-ene. The Ag(I) atom is tetra-hedrally coordinated by four P atoms from triphenyl-phosphane (PPh(3)) ligands. Due to symmetry, the tetra-fluorido-borate anion is disordered over three positions (each with one third occupancy). The tetra-fluorido-borate anion does not coordinate to the Ag(I) atom.

The metal-coordinated pyridine rings are almost coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 1.5?(2)°, while the two pendent pyrazine rings are arranged on the same side of the N-Ag-N line. Along the a axis, the mononuclear coordination units are stacked with ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.569?(4)?Å], leading to infinite chains. The chains are inter-connected through inter-molecular N(pyrazine)??(pyrazine) inter-actions forming layers parallel to the ab plane [N?centroid = 3.268?(5)?Å]. These layers are further stacked along the c-axis direction, furnishing a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework with the tetra-fluoridoborate anions embedded within the inter-stices.
