ABSTRACT: In the binuclear title compound, [Cu(2)(CH(3)COO)(4)(C(12)H(10)N(2))(2)], the copper(II) ions are coordinated by four O atoms from two pairs of bridging acetate ligands and one N atom from a (E)-2-styryl-pyrazine ligand in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The structure displays no hydrogen bonding or ?-? stacking inter-actions between the discrete binuclear entities.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(4)(C(5)H(12)NO)(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(6)(C(4)H(8)O)(2)](n), consists of dinuclear [Cu(2)(C(5)H(12)NO)(2)(THF)(2)] (THF is tetra-hydro-furan) and [Cu(2)(CH(3)COO)(4)] units linked through acetate ions, generating parallel one-dimensional polymeric chains propagating in the [10] direction. In the first dinuclear unit, Cu(II) ions related by inversion symmetry are bridged by two 3-(dimethyl-amino)propan-1-olate ligands. Likewise, a pair of inversion-related Cu(II) ions are bridged by four acetate groups. The crystallographically independent Cu centers are linked to one another by a single bridging acetate group, generating an infinite chain. The distorted square-pyramidal coordination of the first metal center is completed with an apical THF mol-ecule, with a long Cu-O bond length of 2.476 (5) Å. The geometry around the other metal atom is close to octa-hedral, and the Cu⋯Cu separation in this unit is 2.652 (1) Å. The distance between the metal centers in the first dinuclear unit is considerably longer [3.068 (1) Å], suggesting little or no bonding inter-action. The Cu⋯Cu separation between two acetate-bridged independent Cu centers is 4.860 (2) Å. The THF mol-ecule has methyl-ene groups disordered over two positions, with occupancies of 0.608 (13) and 0.392 (13).

The coordination of the metal atom is distorted octa-hedral within a donor set defined by four O atoms, the heterocyclic N atom and the second Cu atom. The pyridine ring is twisted with respect to the tolyl ring and forms a dihedral angle of 35.34 (9)°. A bifurcated N-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bond is present, linking the amine group to two carboxyl-ate O atoms derived from different acetate ions. In the crystal, C-H⋯π inter-actions link mol-ecules into a supra-molecular array in the bc plane.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CO(2))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](CF(3)CO(2))·4H(2)O, the Cu(II) atom shows a distorted octa-hedral coordination with four N atoms [Cu-N = 2.015 (3)-2.244 (3) Å] from the two phenanthroline ligands and two O atoms from the acetate [Cu-O = 1.953 (3) and 2.764 (3) Å]. Strong inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions consolidate the crystal packing. The F atoms of the anion are disordered over two positions in a 0.5233 (3):0.4767 (3) ratio.

Project description:In the mononuclear title complex, [Cu(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(7)H(10)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) ion, located on a crystallographic inversion centre, is six coordinated by two N atoms of two 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridine (DMAP) ligands in apical positions and four O atoms from two symmetry-related opposite acetate anions, which are asymmetrically bonded in the equatorial plane. The complex and the crystal packing of the complex are stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, giving R(4) (2)(10) rings and generating a layer-like structure.

The second O atoms of the acetate groups provide elongated Cu-O axial contacts, so that the acetates appear to be coordinated in a pseudo-chelate fashion. The pyrazole ligands are situated in cis positions with respect to each other. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a one-dimensional chain.
