In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H?Cl inter-actions generate R(2) (1)(6) ring motifs. These ring motifs are further inter-connected by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds into infinite chains along [010].

Project description:The Hg atoms in the crystal structure of the title compound, (CH(6)N(3))(2)[HgBr(4)], are tetra-hedrally coordinated by four Br atoms and the resulting [HgBr(4)](2-) tetra-hedral ions are linked to the [C(NH(2))(3)](+) ions by bromine-hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. In the structure, the anions are located on special positions. The two different Hg?Br distances of 2.664?(1) and 2.559?(1)?Å observed in the tetra-bromidomercurate unit are due to the connection of Br atoms to different number of H atoms.

Guanidinium 4-amino-benzoate.

Project description:In the title compound, CH(6)N(3) (+)·C(7)H(6)NO(2) (-), the cation and anion lie on crystallographic mirror planes. The 4-amino-benzoate anion is almost in a planar conformation with a maximum deviation of 0.024?(2)?Å for the N atom. The bond length in the deprotonated carboxyl group is inter-mediate between those of normal single and double Csp(2)=O bonds, indicating delocalization of the charge over both O atoms of the COO(-) group. In the crystal, N-H?O hydrogen bonds assemble the ions in layers propagating in the bc plane. This structure is very similar to that of guanidinium benzoate.

Macrosteres: The Deltic Guanidinium Ion.

Project description:The "deltic guanidinium" ion is described here as a "macrostere" of the guanidinium ion. The use of the 2,4-dimethoxybenzyl protecting group allows for the synthesis of the fully unsubstituted parent compound and a variety of derivatives bearing multiple N-H functions for the first time. Deltic urea, deltic thiourea, and deltic benzamidine are also synthesized. A comparison of the physical properties of guanidinium and deltic guanidinium ions is provided. The use of a deltic guanidinium dendrimer for cell transport is demonstrated.

Project description:The Hg atom in the crystal structure of the title compound, (CH(6)N(3))(2)[HgI(4)], is tetra-hedrally coordinated by four I atoms. The [HgI(4)](2-) ions are inter-connected to the [C(NH(2))(3)](+) ions by N-H?I hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The four different observed Hg-I distances [2.760?(2), 2.7762?(15), 2.8098?(14) and 2.833?(2)?Å] are consistent with four different (127)I NQR frequencies observed, showing the existence of four unique I atoms in the tetra-iodidomercurate unit.
