ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Mg(C(8)H(9)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·3.5H(2)O, the Mg(II) atom is six-coordinated by two N,O-bidentate 5-carb-oxy-2-propyl-1H-imidazole-4-carboxyl-ate ligands and two water mol-ecules, forming a distorted octa-hedral environment. The complex mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. The propyl groups are disordered over two sites, with site occupancies of 0.755?(7):0.245?(7) and 0.556?(13):0.444?(13).
