2-[5-(Benzo[d]thia-zol-2-yl)thio-phen-2-yl]benzo[d]thia-zole.

ABSTRACT: The structure of the title compound, C(18)H(10)N(2)S(3), consists of a central thio-phene ring and two terminal thia-zole rings. The two S atoms of the thia-zole rings are trans to the thio-phene S atom sulfur. The thia-zole rings are approximately coplanar with the thio-phene ring, with dihedral angles of 6.23?(11) and 4.81?(11)° between them. In the crystal, zigzag chains are formed along [010] by weak C-H?N inter-actions.

Project description:The polymorphism of the title compound, C15H8N2S5, is reported, in which the (syn,syn) and (syn,anti) conformers simultaneously crystallized from a chloro-form solution. The complete mol-ecule of the (syn,syn) form is generated by a crystallographic twofold axis. The geometries of both conformers are compared in detail, revealing no significant differences in bond lengths, despite different bond angles because of the conformational changes. Analysis of the inter-molecular inter-actions, aided by Hirshfeld surfaces, shows distinctive S?S and S?N contacts only for the (syn,anti) conformer. Aromatic ?-?-stacking inter-actions are found for both conformers, which occur for the (syn,anti) conformer between pairs of mol-ecules, but are continuous stacks in the (syn,syn) conformer. Non merohedral twinning was found for the crystal of the (syn,anti) conformer used for data collection.

C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.863?(1)?Å] further stabilize the mol-ecular assembly.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C21H13ClFNO2S, contains two independent mol-ecules with similar conformations. In the mol-ecules, the thia-zole ring is essentially planar [maximum atomic deviations = 0.014?(4) and 0.023?(5)?Å] and is oriented with respect to the fluoro-phenyl ring and chloro-phenyl rings at 9.96?(18) and 70.39?(18)° in one mol-ecule and at 7.50?(18) and 68.43?(18)° in the other; the dihedral angles between the fluoro-phenyl and chloro-phenyl rings are 64.9?(2) and 64.6?(2)°, respectively. Inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?F hydrogen bonds stabilize the three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture. Weak C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.877?(3)?Å] lead to a criss-cross mol-ecular packing along the c axis.

Project description:The title compound, C11H7NS2, was prepared in high yield (87%) using a solvent-free microwave-assisted synthesis. The structure shows whole-mol-ecule disorder with occupancies for two orientations (A and B) of 0.4884?(10) and 0.5116?(10), respectively. The thio-phene and benzo-thia-zole rings are almost planar and make dihedral angles of 10.02?(18) and 12.54?(19)° for orientations A and B, respectively. Slipped ?-? stacking between the aromatic rings, together with C-H??, C-H?S and C-H?N inter-actions, result in a herringbone motif in the crystal packing.

Project description:(Z)-5-[2-(Benzo[b]thio-phen-2-yl)-1-(3,5-di-meth-oxy-phen-yl)ethen-yl]-1H-tetrazole methanol monosolvate, C19H16N4O2S·CH3OH, (I), was prepared by the reaction of (Z)-3-(benzo[b]thio-phen-2-yl)-2-(3,5-di-meth-oxy-phen-yl)acrylo-nitrile with tri-butyl-tin azide via a [3 + 2]cyclo-addition azide condensation reaction. The structurally related compound (Z)-5-[2-(benzo[b]thio-phen-3-yl)-1-(3,4,5-tri-meth-oxy-phen-yl)ethen-yl]-1H-tetra-zole, C20H18N4O3S, (II), was prepared by the reaction of (Z)-3-(benzo[b]thio-phen-3-yl)-2-(3,4,5-tri-meth-oxy-phen-yl)acrylo-nitrile with tri-butyl-tin azide. Crystals of (I) have two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit (Z' = 2), whereas crystals of (II) have Z' = 1. The benzo-thio-phene rings in (I) and (II) are almost planar, with r.m.s deviations from the mean plane of 0.0084 and 0.0037 Å in (I) and 0.0084 Å in (II). The tetra-zole rings of (I) and (II) make dihedral angles with the mean planes of the benzo-thio-phene rings of 88.81 (13) and 88.92 (13)° in (I), and 60.94 (6)° in (II). The di-meth-oxy-phenyl and tri-meth-oxy-phenyl rings make dihedral angles with the benzo-thio-phene rings of 23.91 (8) and 24.99 (8)° in (I) and 84.47 (3)° in (II). In both structures, mol-ecules are linked into hydrogen-bonded chains. In (I), these chains involve both tetra-zole and methanol, and are parallel to the b axis. In (II), mol-ecules are linked into chains parallel to the a axis by N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds between adjacent tetra-zole rings.
