Green synthesis and crystal structure of 3-(benzo-thia-zol-2-yl)thio-phene.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C₁₁H₇NS₂, was prepared in high yield (87%) using a solvent-free microwave-assisted synthesis. The structure shows whole-mol-ecule disorder with occupancies for two orientations (A and B) of 0.4884?(10) and 0.5116?(10), respectively. The thio-phene and benzo-thia-zole rings are almost planar and make dihedral angles of 10.02?(18) and 12.54?(19)° for orientations A and B, respectively. Slipped ?-? stacking between the aromatic rings, together with C-H??, C-H?S and C-H?N inter-actions, result in a herringbone motif in the crystal packing.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(18)H(10)N(2)S(3), consists of a central thio-phene ring and two terminal thia-zole rings. The two S atoms of the thia-zole rings are trans to the thio-phene S atom sulfur. The thia-zole rings are approximately coplanar with the thio-phene ring, with dihedral angles of 6.23 (11) and 4.81 (11)° between them. In the crystal, zigzag chains are formed along [010] by weak C-H⋯N inter-actions.

Polymorphism of bis-(1,3-benzo-thia-zol-2-yl) tri-thio-carbonate.

Project description:The polymorphism of the title compound, C15H8N2S5, is reported, in which the (syn,syn) and (syn,anti) conformers simultaneously crystallized from a chloro-form solution. The complete mol-ecule of the (syn,syn) form is generated by a crystallographic twofold axis. The geometries of both conformers are compared in detail, revealing no significant differences in bond lengths, despite different bond angles because of the conformational changes. Analysis of the inter-molecular inter-actions, aided by Hirshfeld surfaces, shows distinctive S⋯S and S⋯N contacts only for the (syn,anti) conformer. Aromatic π-π-stacking inter-actions are found for both conformers, which occur for the (syn,anti) conformer between pairs of mol-ecules, but are continuous stacks in the (syn,syn) conformer. Non merohedral twinning was found for the crystal of the (syn,anti) conformer used for data collection.

Project description:The title compound, C24H18N4S3, exhibits three near planar benzo-thia-zole systems in a pseudo-C 3 conformation. The dihedral angles between the planes of the benzo-thia-zole groups range from 112.56 (4) to 124.68 (4)° In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected to each other through three short C-H⋯N contacts, forming an infinite chain along [100]. The molecules are also linked by π-π interactions with each of the three five-membered thiazole rings. [inter-centroid distance range: 3.614 (1)-4.074 (1) Å, inter-planar distance range: 3.4806 (17)-3.6902 (15) Å, slippage range: 0.759 (3)-1.887 (3) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, C(25)H(14)ClN(3)OS(2), the central thio-phene ring [maximum deviation = 0.011 (1) Å] makes dihedral angles of 55.72 (5), 13.36 (5) and 46.77 (4)° with the adjacent chloro-substituted benzene ring, the benzene ring and the 1,3-benzothia-zole ring system [maximum deviation = 0.012 (1) Å], respectively. An intra-molecular C-H⋯S(thienyl) hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif in the mol-ecule. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into inversion dimers and the dimers are further connected by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into tapes running along [100]. Project description:The title compound, C15H12N2O2S, crystallizes in the ortho-rhom-bic space group Pna21 , with two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit (Z' = 2). Each mol-ecule consists of a 2-hy-droxy Schiff base moiety linked through a spacer to a 2-amino-benzo-thia-zole moiety. Each mol-ecule contains an intra-molecular hydrogen bond between the -OH group and imine N atom, forming a six-membered ring. The two independent molecules are linked by a pair of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming dimers with an R (2) 2(20) ring motif. These dimers are further lined into sheets in the ab plane by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯N inter-actions. The structure was refined as an inversion twin.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C28H36I2S3, a terthio-phene monomer, the central thio-phene unit is arranged anti-coplanar to the two outer thio-phene rings. There are two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, which show different conformations. In one mol-ecule, the dihedral angles between the inner and the two outer thiophene rings are 15.7 (3) and 3.47 (3)°, whereas these values are 4.2 (3) and 11.3 (3)° for the second mol-ecule. Differences are also found in the arrangement of the hexyl chains: in one of the two molecules, both chains are nearly in plane to the central moiety, whereas in the second molecule, only one chain is in plane and the other one is nearly perpendicular to the central moiety. Some of the C atoms are disordered and were refined using a split model with occupancy ratios of 0.65:0.35 and 0.70:0.30 in the two mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C13H8NOS)2], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms from two bidentate benzo-thia-zolphenolate ligands, forming a distorted tetra-hedral geometry [dihedral angle between two N-Cu-O planes: 45.1 (2)°]. The dihedral angles between the benzo-thia-zole ring systems and the phenol rings are 4.1 (4) and 5.8 (4)°, indicating an almost planar geometry. Weak intra- and inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed. In the crystal, weak π-π inter-actions between aromatic and thia-zole rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.626 (3) and 3.873 (3) Å] link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network along the bc plane.
