ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(24)H(21)ClN(4)O(2)S, the two adjacent spiro junctions link an almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.017 Å) 2-oxindole ring, a hexa-hydro-1H-pyrrolizine ring and a tetra-hydro-imidazo[2,1-b]thia-zole ring. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds occur, generating an R(2) (2)(16) loop.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C15H9N3O2S, the central imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzo-thia-zole heterotricyclic unit is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.021 Å). The terminal phenyl ring and nitro group are twisted by 9.06 (1) and 11.02 (4)°, respectively, from the mean plane of the heterotricycle. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by π-π stacking inter-actions into columns along [100]; the inter-planar distance between neighboring imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzo-thia-zole planes within the columns is 3.370 (2) Å. Furthermore, the columns interact with each other by secondary S⋯O [2.9922 (10) and 3.1988 (11) Å] inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:In the title compound, C12H9ClN2S, the imidazo[2,1-b]thia-zole fragment is planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.003?Å), and the benzene ring is twisted slightly [by 5.65?(6)°] relative to this moiety. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by ?-? stacking inter-actions into columns along [010]. The mol-ecules within the columns are arranged alternatively by their planar rotation of 180°. Thus, in the columns, there are the two types of ?-? stacking inter-actions, namely, (i) between two imidazo[2,1-b]thia-zole fragments [inter-planar distance = 3.351?(2)?Å] and (ii) between an imidazo[2,1-b]thia-zole fragment and the phenyl ring [inter-planar distance = 3.410?(5)?Å]. There are no short contacts between the columns.

The fused tetra-hydro-hexane ring adopts a half-chair conformation. These dimers are linked into an ABABAB chain via N-H⋯O, N-H⋯N and C-H⋯O built edge-fused R(1) (2)(5) and R(2) (2)(7) motifs. This chain is linked to its inversion-related partner via N-H⋯O bonds with an R(2) (2)(8) motif and leads to a double chain extending along the b axis characterized by an R(6) (6)(36) motif across the inversion centres. The methyl group of the phenyl ring and the oxindole of mol-ecule A and B are involved in C-H⋯π inter-actions. One C atom of the pyrrolizine ring of mol-ecule A and its attached H atoms show positional disorder, the major and minor components being in the ratio 0.706 (7):0.294 (7).

In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of C-H?O inter-actions generate R 2 (2)(34) loops for one of the asymmetric mol-ecules. Further C-H?O links also involving the other mol-ecule lead to a three-dimesional network. The contribution of the highly disordered solvent to the scattering was removed with SQUEEZE option of PLATON [Spek (2009 ?). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155]. The solvent contribution is not included in the reported mol-ecular weight and density.
