Bis(ferrocene-carboxyl-ato-?O)bis-(2-pyridyl-methanol-?N,O)cobalt(II).

ABSTRACT: The title complex mol-ecule, [Fe(2)Co(C(5)H(5))(2)(C(6)H(4)O(2))(2)(C(6)H(7)NO)(2)], has a crystallographic imposed centre of symmetry. The Co(II) atom displays a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, provided by the O atoms of two monodentate ferrocene-carboxyl-ate anions and by the N and O atoms of two 2-pyridyl-methanol mol-ecule. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The complex mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cu(2)Fe(4)(C(5)H(5))(4)(C(6)H(4)O(2))(4)(CH(3)OH)(2)]·2CH(3)OH, lies about an inversion centre and contains two centrosymetrically related Cu(II) atoms bridged by four O:O'-bidentante ferrocene-carboxyl-ate anions, leading to a dimeric tetra-bridged unit with a paddle-wheel geometry. The Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment with four O atoms from four ferrocene-carboxyl-ate ligands in basal positions and an O atom from a methanol mol-ecule in an apical position. One of the two crystallographically independent ferrocenyl groups has a staggered conformation, while the other is eclipsed. The mol-ecules are connected into a chain along the b axis by O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving coordinated and uncoordinated methanol mol-ecules and the O atom from a ferrocene-carboxyl-ate unit.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title coordination compound, [Er(2){Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(6)H(4)O(2))}(6)(CH(3)OH)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2CH(3)OH, the two Er(III) ions are bridged by two ferrocene-carboxyl-ate anions as asymmetrically bridging ligands, leading to dimeric cores. The Er(III) ion has a distorted dodeca-hedral coordination with six coordinating O atoms derived from the ferrocene-carboxyl-ate ligands and two coordinated O atoms from one water mol-ecule and one methanol mol-ecule. The asymmetric unit comprises a half of the complex mol-ecule and a methanol solvent mol-ecule. Intra-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O inter-actions occur. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-H?O as well as C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(CH(4)O)(2)], was obtained unintentionally as the product of an attempt to synthesize a polynuclear carboxyl-ate bridged manganese(III/IV) complex, using methanol to reduce the permanganate ion. The mol-ecule is centrosymmetric; the pairs of equivalent ligands coordinate trans to each other in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Intra-molecular C-H?O bonds lying in the equatorial plane stabilize the mol-ecule. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, creating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. ?-? and C-H?? inter-actions are also observed. The dihedral angle and centroid-to-centroid distance between the pyridine ring (A) and the benzene ring (B(i)) of a symmetrically related mol-ecule [symmetry code: (i) -1 - x, -y, -z] are 1.27?(11)° and 3.974?(2)?Å, respectively. The shorter C-O bond distance of 1.260?(2)?Å suggests electron delocalization between the oxido group and the pyridinium ring. The uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atom links with the imidazole and pyridinium rings of adjacent mol-ecules via N-H?O hydrogen bonding. Weak C-H?O hydrogen bonding is also present in the crystal structure.
