Bis(ferrocene-carboxyl-ato-?O)bis-(2-pyridyl-methanol-?N,O)cobalt(II).

ABSTRACT: The title complex mol-ecule, [Fe(2)Co(C(5)H(5))(2)(C(6)H(4)O(2))(2)(C(6)H(7)NO)(2)], has a crystallographic imposed centre of symmetry. The Co(II) atom displays a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, provided by the O atoms of two monodentate ferrocene-carboxyl-ate anions and by the N and O atoms of two 2-pyridyl-methanol mol-ecule. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(CH(4)O)(2)], was obtained unintentionally as the product of an attempt to synthesize a polynuclear carboxyl-ate bridged manganese(III/IV) complex, using methanol to reduce the permanganate ion. The mol-ecule is centrosymmetric; the pairs of equivalent ligands coordinate trans to each other in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Intra-molecular C-H⋯O bonds lying in the equatorial plane stabilize the mol-ecule. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, creating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. π-π and C-H⋯π inter-actions are also observed. The dihedral angle and centroid-to-centroid distance between the pyridine ring (A) and the benzene ring (B(i)) of a symmetrically related mol-ecule [symmetry code: (i) -1 - x, -y, -z] are 1.27 (11)° and 3.974 (2) Å, respectively. For the C-H⋯π inter-actions, the relevant distances and angles are: C⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 3.643 (2) Å, H⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 2.750 (2) Å and C-H⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 155 (1)° [symmetry code: (ii) x, -1 + y, z].

Project description:The complex mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cu(2)Fe(4)(C(5)H(5))(4)(C(6)H(4)O(2))(4)(CH(3)OH)(2)]·2CH(3)OH, lies about an inversion centre and contains two centrosymetrically related Cu(II) atoms bridged by four O:O'-bidentante ferrocene-carboxyl-ate anions, leading to a dimeric tetra-bridged unit with a paddle-wheel geometry. The Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment with four O atoms from four ferrocene-carboxyl-ate ligands in basal positions and an O atom from a methanol mol-ecule in an apical position. One of the two crystallographically independent ferrocenyl groups has a staggered conformation, while the other is eclipsed. The mol-ecules are connected into a chain along the b axis by O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving coordinated and uncoordinated methanol mol-ecules and the O atom from a ferrocene-carboxyl-ate unit.

Two longer Pb⋯O inter-actions distort the geometry towards a Ψ-square-anti-prism. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules.

Project description:The title cocrystal, [Cu(2)(C(2)O(4))(NO(3))(2)(C(7)H(9)N(3))(2)(H(2)O)(2)][Cu(2)(C(2)O(4))(NO(3))(2)(C(7)H(9)N(3))(2)(CH(4)O)(2)], is a 1:1 cocrystal of two centrosymmetric Cu(II) complexes with oxalate dianions and Schiff base ligands. In each mol-ecule, the Cu(II) centre is in a distorted octa-hedral cis-CuN(2)O(4) environment, the donor atoms of the N,N'-bidentate Schiff base ligand and the bridging O,O'-bidentate oxalate group lying in the equatorial plane. In one mol-ecule, a monodentate nitrate anion and a water mol-ecule occupy the axial sites, and in the other, a monodentate nitrate anion and a methanol mol-ecule occupy these sites. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a network. Weak intra-molecular N-H⋯O inter-actions are also observed.

No classic hydrogen bonds or inter-molecular inter-actions are observed in the crystal.
