ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(23)H(15)ClN(2)O, the fused ring system is planar: the deviation of all the non-H atoms from the plane through all four fused rings is less than 0.31?Å. The plane of the phenyl ring is inclined at 71.78?(5)° to the mean plane of the 1,8-naphthrydine ring system. The crystal structure is devoid of any classical hydrogen bonds but ?-? inter-actions are present.

Project description:The hetero-tetra-cene skeleton of the title mol-ecule, C23H14Br2N2OS, is defined by linear annulation of four six-membered rings, including two N heteroatoms. This moiety is nearly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.055 Å), with a slight twist of 4.1 (2)° between the two halves of the aromatic system. The dihedral angle between the least-squares plane of the skeleton and the benzyl group is 24.5 (3)°; the C-S-C angle involving the benzyl-sulfanyl group is 99.2 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are π-stacked in an anti-parallel fashion along [110], with a distance between the aromatic planes of 3.47 (2) Å. Inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form chains extending parallel to [001] and bridge the anti-parallel inter-digitated stacks of mol-ecules.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(8)H(7)N(3)O·H(2)O, adjacent organic mol-ecules are linked together into a tape along the a axis through N-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds. On the other hand, water mol-ecules are linked together to form a chain along the b axis through O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The water chains and the organic mol-ecular tapes are further connected by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. In addition, a ?-? stacking inter-action between the 1,8-naphthyridine ring systems with an inter-planar separation of 3.246?(1)?Å and a centroid-centroid distance of 3.825?(2)?Å is observed.

Project description:The title compound, C(9)H(7)ClN(2)O(2), was prepared by reaction of methyl 4-chloro-3-(prop-1-yn-yl)picolinate with hydroxy-l-amine in MeOH/KOH solution. The two essentially planar mol-ecules which make up the asymmetric unit have almost identical geometries and and are linked into dimeric aggregates via pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds. These aggregates have almost perfect inversion symmetry; however, quite unusually, the inversion center of the dimer does not coincide with the crystallographic inversion center.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(18)N(3)O(+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, comprises a substituted amido-naphthyridine cation, a chloride anion and a water mol-ecule of crystallization. Intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds generate six-membered rings, producing an S(6) ring motif. The amido group is twisted from the naphthyridine ring, making a dihedral angle of 17.65?(7)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular N-H?O, N-H?Cl, O-H?Cl (× 2), and C-H?O (× 2) hydrogen bonds. These inter-actions linked neighbouring mol-ecules into chains along the a and b axes of the crystal, thus forming mol-ecular sheets parallel to the (001) plane.

Project description:The syntheses and crystal structures of N-(7-bromo-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-2-yl)acetamide dioxane hemisolvate, C11H10BrN3O·0.5C4H8O2, (I), and bis-[N-(7-di-bromo-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-2-yl)acetamide] dioxane hemisolvate, 2C11H9Br2N3O·0.5C4H8O2, (II), are described. The mol-ecules adopt a conformation with the N-H hydrogen pointing towards the lone electron pair of the adjacent naphthyridine N atom. The crystals of (I) are stabilized by a three-dimensional supra-molecular network comprising N-H⋯N, C-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-Br⋯π halogen bonds. The crystals of compound (II) are stabilized by a three-dimensional supra-molecular network comprising N-H⋯N, C-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H⋯π contacts and C-Br⋯π halogen bonds. The structure of the substituent attached in the 7-position of the naphthyridine skeleton has a fundamental influence on the pattern of inter-molecular noncovalent bonding. While the Br atom of (I) participates in weak C-Br⋯Oguest and C-Br⋯π contacts, the Br atoms of compound (II) are involved in host-host inter-actions via C-Br⋯O=C, C-Br⋯N and C-Br⋯π bonding.
